Our Family
Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home is an independent, family owned and operated funeral home located on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Our facilities are situated in a stately Victorian Mansion that was built in 1876, and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Why Magoun-Biggins?

Funerals have changed over the years, and especially in recent times with the impact of Covid-19 on everyone’s lives and businesses. In addition to traditional funerals, many families now look for individually tailored services and the Magoun-Biggins is proud to offer a tailored service to enable families to organize a service that is right for their loved ones.

Daniel J. Biggins

Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, President

Daniel J. Biggins is the President of Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer and he holds a degree in Bereavement Studies from Mt. Ida College in Newton. His desire to serve the community in funeral service was evident as a young man and he pursued his goals successfully to gain full licensure by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as well as the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards.

Mr. Biggins serves as the Chairman of the Rockland School Committee and provides hours and hours of service to his hometown of Rockland. Dan is a former recipient of The Rockland Kiwanis Club, “Unsung Citizen of the Year” Award, and was recognized by Mount Ida College as their 2013 Alumni of the Year. He is a member of the Massachusetts and National Funeral Director’s Associations, Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, Rockland Council Knights of Columbus, Rockland Eagles Club, Rockland and South Shore Chambers of Commerce and is a communicant of Holy Family Church.

He serves as a media spokesperson for the NFDA. Dan also served on recent strategic planning initiatives for the MFDA. He has been a presenter at several national conventions using his experience in a family owned business to colleagues of his age from across the country. 

He and his wife Danielle reside in Rockland where they are raising their three active and involved sons.

Kathleen T. Cluff

Office Manager and Funeral Assistant, Chief Operating Officer

Kathleen T. Cluff is the Chief Financial Officer of the funeral home. Her dedication and careful oversight of all of the funeral homes records and revenues is invaluable. Kathy also assists with visitations and funerals providing tender touches for our client families.

She is frequently described as our “Director of First Impressions” due to her kind voice and soothing demeanor to all that call into our facility. Kathleen is a member of the Rockland Kiwanis Club, enjoys golf and spending time with her family. Kathy and her husband Mark reside in Kingston.

Our History

Founded in 1956 by Wendell T. Magoun, our firm has taken great pride in providing personal service to the community in all aspects of caregiving. Wendell’s son Robert W. Magoun continued this legacy of family service for over thirty-five years.

Currently the firm is owned and operated by Daniel J. Biggins, he and a dedicated staff of caregivers are committed to provide ethical and tender service to the community.

They continue the legacy and bring a vision for the future to expand and improve the available resources of care and compassion. Together they strive to assist each and every family that they serve to “Celebrate the Dignity of Life”.

We are proud members of the National Funeral Director’s Association and as a record of our outstanding service, ethical practices and comfortable facilities, our’s is the only firm in our community to be recognized with the prestigious “Pursuit of Excellence” award.

As an NFDA member, we are pledged to strict adherence to the high standards to which members are dedicated. Our responsibilities to each family we serve will be in keeping with NFDA’s nationally known Code of Professional Conduct.
