In Loving Memory of Zachary Murphy

With broken hearts, we share the passing of Zachary Murphy, age 29, of Summerville, South Carolina, formerly of Rockland, Massachusetts. Zach passed away suddenly at home on May 13, 2026. Born on May 5, 1997, in Boston, Massachusetts, he was raised in Rockland and was a proud graduate of Rockland High School.

In 2022, Zach moved to South Carolina with his partner, Justinand their cat, Casper - where they made their home with his brother, Vinny. He was a dedicated mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.

Zach was known for his love of Dr. Pepper, his infectious smile and the joy he brought to everyone around him. He was happiest in the company of his family and Justin. He cherished traveling with loved ones - especially enjoying strawberry daiquiris along the way. During a recent trip to Greece, Zach became engaged to his beloved partner, Justin, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Zach had a passion for playing Dungeons & Dragons with his brother and friends. He was an avid reader and a true movie enthusiast, never missing the opening night of a Marvel film - often attending with his aunt, Maryanne. Zach had an incredible memory, retaining everything he read and watched.

An old soul at heart, Zach found joy in classic rock and simple pleasures. He recently discovered a love for 3D printing, often running his two printers around the clock. He delighted in creating thoughtful items for others, always thinking of his next project and how it could bring happiness to someone else.

Though his time with us was far too short, Zach filled every moment with love, laughter, and kindness. He leaves behind his loving parents, Michael and Michelle Murphy; his brother, Vincent Ayube; and his devoted fiancé, Justin Powers, along with many family members and dear friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

Zachary’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held at a later date at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland, Massachusetts
