I'm sure everyone who ever met Bill Jordan had the same thought -- that he would become your mentor. I met him twice briefly to chat on Sanibel Island. And he answered several emails requesting his knowledge and expertise on Sailor's Valentines. His website kept us shell artists touch. He was a man we all respected for his kindness, his sharing, his boxmaking and his incredible shell artistry. I'll miss him. I always thought he would be there forever for us. Whenever I see a Sailor's Valentine with the message "Remember Me" I will think of Bill.

I am so saddened to hear about Bill's passing. I was excited when I heard he was moving back to MA since that seemed to make him happy. I even kept checking his website every few days to see when it would open again to see if he had a new creation and I wanted to see if I could still get a Bill Sailors Valentine box. Looking back, seeing his "End of the Legacy" post in May saddens me. What a great inspiration he is to many shell crafters, artisans and bringing a new level of artistry and awe to many...I mean who else creates a Sailor's Valentine in a pocketwatch and don't get me started on the sea urchin letters. 🙂 Bill is leaving behind a beautiful and great legacy. Now I need to try to find his instructional DVD since I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person.

I am saddened to hear of Bills passing. He was a true friend and confidant to me and Terri during a very trying time and for that I will always be thankful. He never hesitated to share his unique talents as a top notch shell artist to anyone who asked. I will miss you dear friend and mentor

A huge hole has been left in the shell arts community with our friend Bill's passing. As many others wrote, he was a friend and mentor to many, and always gracious and very generous with his time and knowledge. Nothing seemed to make him happier than taking a new shell artist under his wing, sharing techniques, sources and the fun of working with wood and especially shells. I last saw Bill in Hyannis, MA in June, and he was filled with excitement for his plans and his "new life" back in Massachusetts and I am so grateful we had time for a good chat. I sure will miss him and those conversations! With love and deepest sympathy to his family and many, many friends- Sue Hobbs Cape May, NJ

I have had the privilege of knowing Mr. Jordan for over a decade now and worked with him on many projects. It was very important to him to help advance the arts to which he devoted himself and to help others do likewise. He was a student of the history of shell art and worked tirelessly to share his hard won knowledge. He'd do something right, or not at all. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a long list of stories. He was a good friend and I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Rest In Peace Bill. I will treasure the remaining cases you made for me and think of you as I place each shell inside.

I first met Mr. Jordan at the 2009 Philadelphia Shell Show. He was so kind, informative and willing to share his knowledge and expertise with this newcomer. I looked forward to seeing him each year. Only recently I saw him in Hyannis and learned he had "moved back home". I am saddened to learn of his sudden passing. He will be missed by so many of us who he inspired.
