Obituary For William Thompson Low

William (Bill) Thompson Low, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on August 7th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Scotland and raised in America by his late adopted parents, James and Margaret Low. His love for Scotland was endless.

Bill always enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting his pals. He loved his garden, raising chickens, wearing flannel shirts all four seasons, cooking breakfast, bowling, scotch whiskey, standing by the heater with a coffee on chilly mornings, and watching the movie Braveheart over and over again. Above all else, he loved his grandkids and great-grandkids more than life. Bill spent a lot of his free time at the American Legion and he was a one of a kind man who always knew how to make someone smile. His loss will be deeply felt by all.

Bill worked for Abington/Rockland Water Department for many years, and he was eventually sworn in as the water commissioner, which he and his family were very proud of. Just like his son, he was an all-around handyman and was willing to help anyone in need.

Bill is survived by his wife Donna, and their three daughters, Lisa of Sandwich, Michelle and her husband Lou Venturelli of Plymouth and Nicole and her husband Michael Spano of Rockland. He was also the father of his late son Scott Low, who passed away in 2016. Bill’s life was full of laughter and love with his 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. His family meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment he spent with them.

Visiting hours will be at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024 from 2pm-5pm. Immediately following the prayer service, the Low family welcomes friends and loved ones to the American Legion at 1027 Washington St. in Abington to celebrate Bill’s life. A private burial will be held at a later date. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Massachusetts, 220 N. Main St. #104 Natick, MA 0176

What a great guy ..... I'll never forget him helping me with my first car. Stopped to get gas and he could See the joy in my face. My first car !!!! Gave me so much fatherly advice , he was my friend from that day forward. Never forget his kindness. Sorry to his family and friends for your loss. So weird that I was just thinking of him a few days ago and haven't seen him for years. Thanks Mr Lowe for reaching out and being kind to a kid you don't even know. To the Low family, I have nothing but positive memories of Bill. Growing up in Rockland and that my father had previously owned and managed two different businesses on Union Street I came to know him from a very young age. He was a knowledgeable man who befriended me and remained a positive in my life. Above all he was a genuine person, who always showed kindness and respect to all. I have never forgotten the kindness and wisdom that he showed.
