Obituary For William Cappoli

William Cappoli, 89, of Halifax, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026.

Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, on November 6, 1936, he was the beloved son of Henry and Mable Cappoli, who lovingly adopted him as an infant.

Bill spent his early working years at General Dynamics (Quincy Shipyard) before becoming self-employed, siding homes throughout the area. He also worked for Kendall Corporation in Walpole, Massachusetts, as a maintenance mechanic. Later, he dedicated many years as a maintenance worker at Cardinal Cushing School in Hanover, where he was known for his strong work ethic and quiet dependability.

He was a man who appreciated the simple joys in life, especially cherished time spent with his family, where his playful teasing and sense of humor created lasting memories for generations. Riding his motorcycle well into his later years, Bill was also an avid NASCAR fan and found great happiness in hunting, fishing, and target shooting. He was a proud member of the Braintree Rifle and Pistol Club and the Satucket Rifle and Pistol Club.

Bill was the devoted husband of Judith (Lunt) Cappoli, with whom he would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this year—a remarkable testament to their love and commitment.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, Steven Lunt (Denise) of Georgia; his loving children, Debra Ward and her husband Kirk, with whom Bill shared a particularly close bond; Patricia Purves-Tarbox and her husband Carl; and William Cappoli and his wife Liz.

He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, whom he adored and delighted in teasing as often as he could, as well as eighteen great-grandchildren who treasured their time with him.

Bill was predeceased by all of his siblings. He was the brother of the late Linda Blood, Nellie Salamone, Teresa Torrance, Josephine Tangherlini, Salvatore Salamone, James Salamone, and Charles Salamone.

William will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of family, and the joy he brought to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, laughter, and quiet strength that will live on in all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
