Wayne Edward Eaton, affectionately known as “Wayneo” by his daughter and her friends, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Wayne was born on December 14, 1948, in Quincy, Massachusetts, to the late Richard and Joan Eaton. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before dedicating much of his career as an accountant with the Massachusetts State Parole Board.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Ba Thi Eaton of Rockland; his devoted daughter, Tonya Spinale of Marshfield and her children Brayden Campbell, Will Spinale, Justin Spinale, and Julia Spinale, who were the light of his life. His brotherJohn Eaton of Middleborough and his children Kerry Young,and the late Laura Eaton and Scott Eaton. He was a proud great uncle to Adam Rollo and his wife Saouri, Cadence Young, Shane Young, and William Rollo. He is also survived by his dear friends, Joseph and Dinh McDonald of Rockland, and their family, whose love, friendship, and unwavering presence over the years made them family in every sense of the word.

Wayne embraced life with a youthful spirit, an unforgettable laugh, and a wonderful sense of humor. He had a lifelong love of swimming and spent countless hours in the water. One of his proudest accomplishments was swimming across Morton’s Pond several times, reflecting both his adventurous spirit and determination.

Wayne was an avid Elvis Presley fan and loved not only listening to Elvis but also singing his songs, especially whenever there was a karaoke microphone nearby. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and nothing made him laugh quite like a roller coaster. His love of roller coasters became a treasured tradition that he shared with his daughter, who later passed that same joy on to her own children. His family will always remember the unmistakable sound of his infectious laugh echoing through amusement parks as he rode roller coasters with pure joy.

A gifted accountant, Wayne was a true math wizard. He had an incredible ability to add long columns of numbers in his head faster than most people could with a calculator. Throughout his career as an accountant, he was known for his meticulous spreadsheets—although his daughter lovingly joked that no one else could ever read them quite the way he could.

Wayne also had a passion for woodworking and found great joy in creating handcrafted gifts for family and friends. He was especially known for making personalized wooden banks with decals, decorative plaques, quarter holders, and beautiful clocks. Each piece reflected his patience, craftsmanship, and pride in a job well done.

There wasn’t a sweet treat or salty snack that Wayne didn’t enjoy. He cherished spending time with his good friends, watching movies, sharing pizza, and gathering for Saturday morning breakfasts with his brother and cousins. Those simple moments of laughter, conversation, and togetherness brought him some of his greatest happiness.

To his grandchildren, Wayne will forever be remembered as “Papa,” always with candy in his pocket, ready with a sweet treat, a smile, a joke, and unconditional love. Whether sharing stories, making them laugh, or simply spending time together, he had a special way of making each of them feel deeply loved. His family will forever remember the songs he sang, the laughter he shared, and the countless ways he made those he loved feel like they truly lit up his life.

Above all else, Wayne’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud Papa, and a loyal friend. To his daughter, he was simply “D.” Their bond was one of unconditional love, unwavering support, and a lifetime of cherished memories. The love he gave so freely, the values he instilled, and the memories he created will live on through her, his grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved him.

Wayne’s life will be celebrated at a graveside service with military honors on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts, in the presence of his close family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who knew Wayne honor his memory by spending time with loved ones, sharing laughter, enjoying a favorite sweet treat or slice of pizza, singing an Elvis song, and remembering the simple joys in life that meant so much to him.

Wayne’s memory will live on in every Elvis song, every ride on a roller coaster, every piece of handcrafted woodwork, every sweet treat tucked into a pocket, every swim across a quiet pond, and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
