Obituary For Virginia L. May
Virginia (Ginny) Louise May (Thayer)
October 27, 1949 – February 5, 2026
Virginia "Ginny" Louise May passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born and raised in Hanover, Massachusetts, Ginny was the daughter of Robert and Muriel Thayer. A lifelong learner with a deep passion for education, she earned her Master's degree in Education from Bridgewater State University and dedicated her career to shaping young minds as a teacher in the Boston Public School system until her retirement.
Ginny is survived by her husband, Gary May; her daughter Robyn Fraser and her partner Jose Maldonado, along with their children Hayden, Olivia, and Zach; and her daughter Chelsea Schwarb and her husband Robert, along with their children Owen, Miles, Avery, and Loretta. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Joseph Sung Hoon Fraser.
Above all else, Ginny treasured her grandchildren. Hayden fondly recalls joining her on end-of-year school field trips and cookouts, and the joy of jumping into autumn leaf piles together. Olivia cherishes memories of Ginny doing her hair and their silly, playful moments. Zach loved nothing more than spending time outdoors with his grandmother. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she in theirs.
Ginny had an adventurous spirit and a love of exploration. Her daughter Robyn remembers countless day trips filled with discovery and together, Ginny was always eager to keep moving and see something new.
In her later years, Ginny faced the challenges of dementia with grace, lovingly cared for by her daughterRobyn. Together, they would play music, dance, and share moments of joy and silliness—a testament to the warmth and light Ginny brought to everyone around her.
Ginny was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a cherished grandmother. Her kindness, curiosity, and zest for life touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
