Obituary For Virginia F. Szejnar
Virginia F.(Hayes) Szejnar,94,of Hanover,life-time volunteer,passed away November 30th,2015 at the South Shore Hospital,So.Weymouth,MA surrounded by her loving family.She was born in Rockland MA on February 10th,1921 and lived the majority of her life in Hanover.
She was a graduate of Hanover High School and long-time parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Hanover. Virginia worked at Tedeschi's and Stop & Shop for many years while volunteering for many organizations including the South Shore Hospital and American Red Cross.
Virginia had a soft spot in her heart for the veterans. She was former President of the Rockland Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. and was frequently seen in her auxiliary uniform supporting the veterans at the local poppy drives,,Brockton VA Hospital and Memorial parades.In 2002 she was the first recipient of the "Spirit of Hanover Community Service Award." She was awarded the "Wisdom" award being an associate member of the Sisters of Divine Providence in Kingston,MA. She received the "Angel" award from the Hanover Council on Aging and the "Empowered Woman" award in 2008 from the General Federation of Women's Club. She was also a member of the Rockland PM Club and the Red Hat Ladies.
She is survived by her devoted husband, E. Stanley Szejnar,navy veteran of WW II,daughter Candace Finnie of Ocala, FL and grand-daughter Ericka Krul of Hanover. She also leaves her niece Anne Little,nephews Joseph Hayes Jr.,Stephen Hayes of Scituate and Kevin Hayes of New Hampshire. She is also survived by many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Virginia was predeceased by her brother Joseph Hayes Sr.and nephew Craig Hayes of Scituate.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St Rockland, MA on Sunday,December 6th,2015 between 4-7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be said on Monday, December 7th,2015 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church Hanover,MA. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Hanover Food Pantry.

She certainly was a grand Lady! I had the pleasure of meeting her many times over the years when I would come to visit old dear friends in Hanover! She was such a bright light and I loved to hear her laugh! A die hard Red Sox Fan! I spent a lovely day with here planting flowers at cemetery plots for Veterens She sure will be missed! So sorry for your loss! Virginia was certainly one of a kind! Such a huge heart and her compassion for others was and so genuine and she made you feel special! I had the pleasure of spending time with her when I would visit dear friends in Hanover! She sure will be missed! Rest In Peace Virginia. Your home!
