Obituary For Van J. Brockmann

Van John Brockmann, 30, took his own life on January 20th. Van was born in Fort Worth, Texas on April 10, 1988. In 1996, when he was 8 1/2 years old, he was adopted by John and Sarah Brockmann. He grew up in Warwick, Maryland, attending public schools, the Tome School, and Delaware's Centreville Layton School. He studied nursing at Cecil College in 2007.

When Van re-joined his family in Scituate, Massachusetts in 2011, he became an aspiring actor and producer, working both on local, independent films (Killing Khan, 2016) as well as studio productions including Here Comes the Boom (Columbia Pictures, 2012), and RIPD (Universal Pictures, 2013). He also held numerous non-acting jobs, including hospital patient transporter, lifeguard, Med Tech Ambulance transport, and armed security guard. The theme in all these endeavours can be summed up in a quote from Professor McGonagall: "Hogwarts is threatened! Man the boundaries. Protect us! Do your duty to our school!!" (one of his Favourite Quotes on his Facebook page)

Van leaves his parents and his brother, Robbie Brockmann, all of Scituate, as well as his infant son, Nathan (5-months-old), his twin sister Thi T. Brown, and his god-brother, Kenny Martin. He also leaves an extended family who loved him very much, and countless friends and fellow actors. He also leaves his wife, Ashlee, her 2-year-old son Alonzo, and her family.

Funeral services will be held for Van on Monday, February 4th at 11 A.M. at Grace Episcopal Church in Norwood, MA. Those who wish it may contribute to the Nathan Brockmann Education Trust, c/o Brockmann, 78 Mann Hill Road, Scituate MA 02066.
