Obituary For Thomas S. Nicholson
Thomas S. Nicholson, 69 of Rockland, MA passed away unexpectedly on December 28, 2023 surrounded by his loving family in South Weymouth, MA. Tom was born on November 23, 1954 in Boston, MA and was the son to the late William and Audrey Nicholson of Abington, MA.
Tom grew up in Abington, MA and graduated from Abington high school as class of 1973. He was on the high school baseball team and grew up loving the game of baseball.
Tom is survived by his wife of 43 years Margaret (Peggy) Nicholson of Rockland and their five children Dan, Michael, Melissa, Brian and his wife Jessica, Matthew and fiancee Jen of all Rockland, MA. Tom was also the loving grandfather to Braedan, Lexi, Autumn, & Bennett. Tom was a brother to Peggy Ehst of Pembroke, Rick and his wife Cheri of Acushnet, the late Joanne Pike and William Nicholson. The loving brother in law of Denis Gaine, Patricia Gaine, and Christine & Rick Coscia. Tom was an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Tom’s greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Tom was dedicated to the sport of baseball and devoted 20 plus years coaching Rockland little league and coached Rockland youth basketball and youth football. After he was done coaching, he umpired high school and little league games. He gave up his one Sunday at the end of June for fifteen years to watch his daughter Melissa’s dance recitals. Tom even got his last trip to his favorite place Myrtle Beach this past summer to watch his grandson Braedan play baseball and his son Matt coach. Tom’s other joy was landscaping and spending time with his grand puppies Banks, Bandit, and Cabella.
Tom will be remembered as someone who enjoyed talking to everyone and made sure he got the last word.
The Nicholson family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Tom’s life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Friday January 12, from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held in the Holy Family Church in Rockland on Saturday January, 13 at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.

I grew up in the same neighborhood as Tom. We enjoyed our backyard sports from basketball, baseball to ice hockey. Tom was a great friend, classmate, teammate and will be sorely missed. Condolences to the Nicholson family.
