Obituary For Thomas J Donnelly
On Saturday, May 23, Thomas James Donnelly of Rockland and North Port, Florida passed away peacefully at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham at the age of 91. He was born in Jamaica Plain on April 23, 1929 to Thomas Donnelly and Mary Elizabeth Kaise. Tom was educated in the Boston Public Schools and served our country in the Marines and the Navy where he toured many countries aboard the U.S.S. Fargo.
He married Teresa Kelly in 1953 and they settled in Rockland and raised four children. After retiring from the City of Boston at the age of 61, he worked for many years and in many capacities for Holy Family Parish. He was an avid photographer and a very talented landscape artist and wood carver. He was also a skilled carpenter and an enthusiastic gardener. Tom was a very compassionate, humble man and spent countless hours volunteering for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at their food pantry to assist food insecure families. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, served as a council officer and was part of the honor guard. He always put others first.
He now rests with his wife, Teresa Kelly, his parents and his six siblings, Charlie, Grace, Madeline, Harry, Bill and Claire, his best friend, Phil Dion, and many other predeceased family members and friends. He leaves behind his greatly saddened children, Joseph Donnelly of Carver and his partner Ann Podolski, Maureen McQuiggan of Montpelier, Vermont and her husband Bill, Anne Cavanaugh of Rockland and her husband Tom and Peter Donnelly of Carver and his wife Susan.
"Papa" was dearly loved and will be missed by his grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, Joe, Mary T, Sean, Rosie, Emily, Kevin and Steven and his great grandchildren Bryce, Ada, Meg, Eloise and Helaina.
A funeral Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to the Pat Roche Hospice Home, 86 Turkey Hill Lane, Hingham, MA 02043.

My condolences to all Tom's family. I remember him as a student of history and a kind, fun uncle who loved to share that history with his extended family. Tom's heart of gold lives on through his family and all he touched.

To my cousins Maureen, Annie, Peter, Joe and extended family, Gerard and I offer our deepest sympathy for the loss of your Dad, our Uncle Tom. He was a great guy and we're glad he was a part of our lives for so many years. Our families had so much fun together at cookouts in Rockland, parties at Pete's house, summer vacations at Lake Winnepesaukee and of course all the fun times we had in Florida over the years. There was no better friendship than that of Tom and Phil. Having met as two young guys in Boston and marrying Kelly girls, they traveled similar paths in life and now they are back together again. They were part of the Greatest Generation this country will ever see. Brave, selfless, generous and compassionate, they are irreplaceable. To my cousins, we'll sorely miss your Dad, but remember, he'll always be with us in spirit. Hopefully that brings comfort to you during this difficult time. Love, Michele and Gerard
