Obituary For Thomas J. Begley
Thomas J. Begley, 74 of Halifax formerly of Rockland died on December 26, 2016 in Wingate at Kingston. He was born in Boston, son of the late Philip J. and Helen T. (Foley) Begley and was raised and educated in Dorchester. A Rockland resident for more than 40 years, Tom has made Halifax his home for the past 18 years.
For more than 40 years he had been employed as a fabricator for Local #17 of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. Mr. Begley enjoyed playing billiards and golfing at the Rockland Golf Course and Pembroke Country Club. He had been a coach in the Rockland Youth Hockey Association and he was an avid Bruin's fan. Tom loved to make people laugh and always had a good joke or two (often many) to tell.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly A. (Blanchard) Begley and his children, Thomas J. Begley, Jr. of Halifax, Kim Begley of Lynn and Kenneth H. Begley of Lyndeborough, NH. He was the brother of Philip Begley of Brockton and the late Helen Cantwell. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The Begley family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life on Tuesday January 3, 2017 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday January 4, 2017 at 9:00 AM in Holy Family Church in Rockland. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Back in the late 70's, I asked Uncle Tom if he wanted to go to a Bruins Game. He jumped at the chance to go. He stated that he had a friend that owned a gas station in Boston and we could park there for free. However just the cab ride from the gas station to the Garden would have cost more than to park. The gas station he was referring to was in the Fenway Area of Boston. Not even in the same Zip Code of the Garden. Uncle Tom, I'm going to miss you a lot. Rest easy, Love, Steven Cantwell Bath, Ny
