Thomas F. Long, 78 of Rockland died on September 29, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 11, 1937 in Somerville, MA, the son of the late James and Marion (Sullivan) Long. Tom and his wife Nancy were married for 55 years. Tom was the father of Patricia Faria and her husband Michael of Billerica, Maureen Bannon and her late husband Gabriel of Rockland and Thomas F. Long Jr. and his wife Karen of Bridgewater. He was the brother of the late Johnny, Ed, Buddy, Audrey and Irene Long. Tom was the loving Papa of Kevin, Caitlin and Erin Faria and Zachary and Audrey Long. He will be missed by his nieces Marion Long of North Andover, Deirdre Sullivan of Derry NH, and Denise Ramesh of Oklahoma, and his nephews Brendan Long of North Andover and James Long of Oklahoma he will also be missed by his many grand nieces and nephews and his Sister-in-law Florence Murrah of Oklahoma.

Tom was a United States Army Veteran. Tom worked for Navy Audit and then the United States Customs Service where he worked for 20 years as an auditor. Tom retired in 1993 and began managing the Custom's Employee Credit Union where he worked until 2014. Tom was a Rockland resident for 52 years, he was active in his community, including many years with Rockland Town League Basketball in many roles. He was a member of the Abington VFW, the Rockland Senior Men's Club, and he was a life member and Past Grand Knight of the Rockland Knights of Columbus Council 165. People who knew Tom knew he loved his family, loved sports (especially the Celtics and Patriots) loved to cook, loved to spend time with his friends and he loved his dogs and his crazy cat.

The family welcomes relatives and friends to celebrate his life on Tuesday October 4, 2016 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. in Rockland from 5-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Holy Family Church in Rockland. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA
