Obituary For Thomas F. Furlong

Thomas F. Furlong, 78 of Rockland died on February 6, 2015 after being stricken ill suddenly. He was born in Boston son of the late Thomas P. and Mary (Lewis ) Furlong. He was raised and educated in Dorchester graduating in 1953 from Dorchester High School. He later briefly attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

A Rockland resident since 1967, Tom was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He had been employed by the Gillette Co. for many years as a project Manager and engineer prior to his retirement. An active member of the Rockland Aerie # 841 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, he had served as a Trustee, Vice-President and later President of the group. He was also a member of the Weymouth Elks.

Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carole A. (Jollimore) Furlong and their children, Richard T. and Celine Furlong, Thomas P. Furlong and Elliot W. Furlong all of Rockland, Russell F. and Lee Furlong of Carver, Denise A. and Mitchell Faught of MD and James E. and Pam Furlong of Whitman. He was the brother of Donald Furlong of Middleboro and the late John, Jean, Frank Furlong. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life on Tuesday February 10, 2015 in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland from 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 9:00 AM in Holy Family Church. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
