Obituary For Theresa "Terry" Russo

Theresa "Terry" (Mortelliti) Russo died peacefully on 4/28/21 after a brief illness and long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Roxbury, MA, on July 3, 1930, Terry was the 13th child of Francesco and Maria (Curreri) Mortelliti. The loving sister of the late Nunzio & Frank Mortelliti, the late Pauline Pizziferri, Joseph Mortelliti & Madeline DeTore. She is survived by her identical twin sister Mary "Mitzi" Saia of Hingham and youngest sister Rose LaVerde of Wilmington. Terry is also very recently predeceased by her elder sister Ann Giorgianni of Waltham; just weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Terry was a devoted mother to Michael Russo (Ramona) of Pensacola, Frank Russo (Helen) of Pembroke, Patty Fennessy (Kevin) of Rockland, Mark Russo (Terry) of Pensacola, Christine Falvey (Paul) of Hanover, Jackie Amodeo (Frank) of Brockton, Bobby Russo of Hull and niece Marianne Cahill of Weymouth who was like a daughter to her. She was a proud "Nana" to Joseph Russo, Vincent Russo, Gina Stubbs, Jason Russo, Nicholas Russo, Thomas Fennessy, Christopher Fennessy, Michael Fennessy, Olivia Russo, Scott Russo, Steven Rowell, Zachary Russo, Evan Falvey, Elise Falvey, Richard Russo, Julie Comeau, Anthony Comeau, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great greatgrandchild. Terry enjoyed cooking, playing cards with family and friends and winning at bingo, which she often achieved. She was a great cook. Those of you, who knew her well, know everyone was welcome to join at mealtime and there was always plenty to eat. Terry spoke fluent Italian, in many dialects, and often assisted Italian immigrants with settling in after arriving in the US. She was a long term resident of Keystone Apartments in Dorchester and made many friends and Bingo partners there. Our family would like to thank the long term staff at Harbor House of Hingham as well as Beacon Hospice who cared for her with compassion and kindness. Family and friends will honor and remember Terry's life by gathering for Calling Hours in the Magoun Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland, on Friday, May 7, from 3 – 5 pm. A private Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland, at a later date. The family would like to invite guest to join a gathering in memory of Terry at Rockland Golf Course, 276 Plain Street, Rte. 139, at 6pm following Calling Hours. Condolences

    Dear Family of Theresa Russo,

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

She was the epitome of a family matriarch taking care of her family . I first met Terry while Rich and Angi were dating and fell in love with her kind and living nature.

My prayers for each of you is to hold on to the moments created with and by her, for those moments are your riches that could never be bought only shared.

May you find peace also during this difficult time in knowing she will remain in your hearts forever. She will also walk with you everyday looking down from heaven in everlasting life.

    Sincerely
