Obituary For Teresa Donnelly

Teresa Donnelly April 25, 1930 - December 22, 2019

On Sunday, December 22, 2019, Teresa Donnelly passed away peacefully holding the hand of her beloved daughter, Anne Marie. She joins her parents and her four older sisters, Marie, Irene, Peggy and Rita and many other predeceased and much loved family members and friends. She was born in Boston on April 25, 1930 to immigrant parents, Thomas Kelly and Helena Sullivan. She graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School and worked for John Hancock Insurance for a number of years. She married Thomas Donnelly on June 28, 1953 and moved to Rockland where they resided for 66 years and raised four children. She was active in her church, sang in the choir for a number of years and was involved in many fundraising initiatives. In her later years she found enjoyment in playing bingo at the Rockland Senior Center. Teresa is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Thomas, who carried her high school picture in his wallet and called her his girlfriend until the day she died. Her sense of humor and rambunctious spirit will be missed by her son Joseph Donnelly and his significant other Ann Podolski of Carver, her daughter Maureen McQuiggan and her husband Bill of Montpelier, Vermont, her daughter Anne Cavanaugh and her husband Tom of Rockland, and her son Peter Donnelly and his wife Susan of Carver. Always singing and dancing, her joyful, fun-loving personality will be missed by her grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, Joseph, Mary Teresa, Sean, Rosie, Emily, Kevin and Steven and their spouses. We are happy she had the opportunity to spend time with her great grandchildren Bryce, Ada, Meg and Eloise, but saddened she will miss the birth of a new Donnelly baby due in March. Teresa will be remembered at the 9:00 a.m. Mass at Holy Family Church on Union Street in Rockland on Saturday, January 11, 2020. Friends and family are invited to join us at that time and/or at a Celebration of Life brunch on Saturday, January 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rockland Golf Course, 276 Plain Street, Route 139 in Rockland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rockland Senior Center, 317 Plain Street, Rockland, in her memory.

God bless all the relatives back East especially Tom and the Kids. Tessie was a character. Loved her silly spirit. Glad to have had her in my life as a child. Thinking of her and all of you during this difficult time. Love you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was always the life of the party. I have so many fond memories of our visits to see you all on the east coast. It's hard to believe all the Kelly girls are gone now. Please give Uncle Tom a big hug for me. Jeff and I offer our heartfelt condolences. May your loving memories comfort you at this difficult time. We'll miss TC. She was a great Aunt and lots of fun. She's with her sisters again and I'm sure they're all happy to be together. To my cousins, you have our deepest condolences. Love, Michele and Gerard
