Obituary For Susanne M. Kiniry

Susanne Kiniry of Hanson, formerly of Marshfield and Scituate, passed away on March 3rd at the Brockton Hospital. Susanne is the daughter of the late Commander William G. and Irene Kiniry and the sister of the late Virginia Duggan. She is survived by her brother William Kiniry and his wife Carolyn of Pembroke, her sister Kathy Cookson and her husband Jack of Hanson. Susanne is the beloved Aunt of Megan MacCurtain and her husband Brian of Dedham, Melissa Kiniry of South Boston, Janel Smith and her husband John of Whitman, John Cookson IV and his fiancé, Carol Leurini of Whitman. She delighted in her two great grand nephews, Will MacCurtain of Dedham and Jacob Smith of Whitman and one great grand niece, Alison Smith of Whitman. Susanne is a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Hingham and Keene State College in Keene, NH. She worked for Hartford Insurance; managed Photographer’s Service in Weymouth Landing and for many years was a member service rep for Harvard Pilgrim. In our family as well as in her jobs, service was her middle name. Sue loved to travel by air and sea. Over the years, she visited many Caribbean islands with her friends and family. She was always the lucky one in the group winning at the slots, on scratch tickets and at bingo. Her favorite place in the world was the spit at the mouth of the North River. She enjoyed weekends boating with her brother in law, Captain Jack and the rest of the jolly crew, playing horse shoes and bocce ball or just enjoying the passing boats. Susanne was the consummate shopper who loved a good bargain. Macys and Kohl’s will miss the weekly trips with her best friend Donna Ruccio of Plymouth. After shopping they would try out and critique local restaurants for the rest of the family Sue loved her cats, at one time housing five felines. Her surviving kitty, Harry, has been with her for over 21 years. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Susanne’s life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Sunday April 3, 2011 from 3:00-5:00 PM. A service will be conducted at the close of visitation. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alpha One Foundation, www.alpha-1foundation.org or call 1-877-2-CURE-A1.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of Susanne, I worked with her at Harvard Pilgrim. She was a great friend to many. On several occasions I had the privilege of talking to members that had spoken to Susanne previously on a issue she had been working on for them and they always would say what a nice gal Susanne is and how helpful she was. She impacted many people with her sincerity and gentle voice and willingness to always help others.. She will be missed by many. May you find comfort in her memories.
