Obituary For Susan J. Biggins

Susan Jean Biggins (Benoit) passed away, leaving behind a legacy of strength, dedication, and love. She was born February 24, 1957 in North Cambridge, MA and was the oldest girl of seven children. That large family upbringing helped shape her strong spirit and deep sense of connection to others. She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Helen (Healey) Benoit, as well as her longtime partner, John O’Blenis.

Susan is survived by many who loved her dearly, including her five children and twelve grandchildren, whom she shared with her first husband, Edward Biggins. She leaves behind her son Clifford and his wife Leigh-Ann; her daughters Erin, Sheri, Jessica and her husband Joe, and Rachael and her husband Greg. Many also considered Susan to be a second mother, drawn to her warmth, guidance, and unconditional care. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Susan’s life was marked by hard work, resilience, and a willingness to embrace change. She began her career running a home daycare throughout the 80’s and 90’s, where she cared for countless children with patience and warmth. Driven to expand her skills and serve others in a new way, she pursued a degree in nursing and went on to work as an Alzheimer’s charge nurse in nursing homes for over a decade. Even in her 40’s, Susan was not afraid to start again, taking on the physically demanding work of climbing telephone poles as part of a new career with Verizon. She spent more than 20 years as an outside technician and FiOS installer, earning respect for her determination, strength, and dedication before retiring in 2021.

Susan also cherished time spent with family and friends, especially gathering by the pool in Billerica and enjoying summers with her children and loved ones at Salisbury Beach. These moments were filled with laughter, conversation, and togetherness that she deeply valued. She also had a deep love for animals and found joy in their companionship. She was quick-witted and funny, with an infectious laugh and a remarkable way of making everyone around her feel like they were her favorite. She truly loved to laugh, and her sense of humor and warmth left a lasting impression on those who knew her.

She will be remembered for her unwavering work ethic, her courage to forge new paths, and the joy, love and laughter she brought into the lives of others. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she cared for, both at home and throughout her career, and in the family who will carry her memory forward.

Visiting hours will be held at Biggins -Magoun Funeral Home in Rockland, Massachusetts, on Friday May 8, from 4-7pm.

The world is a little less bright without her in it.

My deep sympathy to ALL. This could not be more true about Susan. She would make a room light up with her smile and she worked hard at what ever she did. She will be missed and will be reunited with those gone before her.
