Obituary For Stephen Delaney
Stephen Michael Delaney age 46 of Whitman passed away peacefully at his home on Monday June 12, 2023. Stephen was born and raised in Abington Massachusetts. He was the son of Robert & Catherine Delaney of Abington, the father of Catherine “Cassie” Delaney of Vancouver Washington, and brother of Kevin Delaney and his wife Marlena of Rockland. Stephen is also survived by beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Stephen worked for the MBTA for almost 25 years. Growing up, he and his family spent time together on Lake Winnipesaukee. They all speak fondly of those trips together, grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He still enjoyed spending time there as often as he could.
Stephen was loyal, generous, hard-working, sarcastic, fun, loving and had a memorable mischievous smile. He had many struggles that made it difficult for him to be the person he wanted to be, especially with those he loved the most. In spite of his faults and shortcomings, his family and friends would not be hard-pressed to quickly tell a story or two that would explain why despite that, they loved him dearly.
Stephen’s family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 5-8 PM.

I just heard of Steve's passing. I knew him and Kevin since childhood. Last ran into Steve about 26 years ago. Had many fun times, like when Steve and Kevin's row boat sank at Ames knoll state park when we were kids. Just learned he lived very close to me and we both work at the mbta for over 20 years.

I met Steve many years ago and was fortunate enough to hear many memories he had with his grandparents parents and brother and sister in law. Also his daughter and friends. Larry and I had the pleasure of having Steve as our neighbor up at the lake for a few years. He was sweet, kind and fun. Even though we lost touch when we all sold our places, we remembered him fondly for the hours we spent floating on the lake and hanging at the campfire. Go easy our friend. You were loved. Judi and Larry

To the Delaney Family, I have been an Greenline Mbta employee for 12 years, and have had the pleasure to know your son a little bit. Him and I would joke around and have a few laughs when we saw eachother. He always shook my hand and asked me whats going on. He was one of the people when I started here that would take the time to " show you the ropes" so to speak and I will never ever forget that. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, your friends, and ofcourse to Steve. He will be missed! Sincerely James Malone
