Obituary For Stephen Alfred Fregeau

Stephen Alfred Fregeau, 80, died on January 8, 2024, after a long illness with his wife and children by his side.

Stephen was born in Boston, MA on January 23, 1943 to Thelma (Goode) and Alfred Fregeau. He is survived by his wife of two months, Michelle Sinclair, his daughter Michelle Murphy (Fregeau) and her husband, Michael of Scituate, MA, his son Stephan Fregeau Jr. of Wilmington, NC, his grandchildren Vincent Ayube, Gabrielle Bruner (Fregeau) and her husband, Tim, Zachary Murphy and Jeremy Fregeau and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Fregeau (Lotti).

Stephen attended school in Abington, MA and was a member of the graduating class of 1960. He went on and graduated from Boston University. Stephen had a variety of occupationsincluding the Abington Special Police force and Vice-President of Rockland Trust. In 1980, Stephen decided to follow his dream and started the path of ministry to become an Episcopal priest. Stephen attended and graduated from Episcopal Divinity School (EDS) then went on to obtain a masters in Pastoral Counseling at Eastern Nazarene College and a master’s in divinity at EDS.

Stephen was also an entrepreneur with his wife, Patricia and owned Emergency Equipment Company and Eagles Wings both in Rockland, MA.

Stephen was involved in many Christian Groups – Marriage Encounter, Youth Encounter Spirit and Cursillo. In 1997, Stephen was called to serve at the Duncan Conference Center in Delray Beach, Florida. He and Patricia made Florida their permanent home. Stephen served at the conference center for many years and while there created and implemented the labyrinth. Stephen then went on to be on the staff at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Stuart, FL. While staying there as affiliate clergy, he joined St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in an interim position.

Stephen liked to travel personally and with the various church groups and thoroughly enjoyed eating out. Stephen was known to say – “Are we having fun yet?”

Stephen will be celebrated at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3 Goddard Avenue, Rockland, MA 02370 on April 27, 2024 at 11:00 am. All are welcome to attend, there will be a reception afterwards in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Trinity Episcopal Church in Rockland.
