Obituary For Sophia M. Bonfiglio

Sophia Maria
“Phia”
Bonfiglio

Sophia Maria Bonfiglio, known lovingly as Phia, was taken from her family abruptly by a gunshot on New Year’s Eve 2023 in Manchester, NH. Phia was 26 years old. She has gone to the heavens to be with her mother (Lesley Bonfiglio), brother (Dominic Bonfiglio), grandfather, uncle, and many other loved ones.

Born July 18, 1997 in Boston, she grew up in Hyannis, MA with her parents & four brothers. Sophia attended Cape Cod Technical High School in Harwich, MA and later worked at Dan O’Brien Kia in Concord, NH. She had plans to
further her education & attend nursing school.

Sophia’s love for her family was evident in her close relationships with all of them. Her parents, siblings, cousins, nieces & nephews were her heart. She enjoyed doting on her nieces & nephews and spending Sunday dinners at her parents’ home in Hyannis. As loving as Sophia was, she was also fiercely protective of those she held dear. There wasn’t a challenge Sophia wouldn’t rise to if it meant protecting those she loved. She was a truly beautiful soul
inside and out.

She is survived by her father Paul A. Bonfiglio of Hyannis, MA, her brothers Anthony E. Bonfiglio of Falmouth, MA, Mathew P. Bonfiglio of Falmouth, MA, & Pauley M. Bonfiglio of Hyannis, MA. Phia will also be dearly missed by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, & many friends.
There are no words to describe the enormity of this loss. As a family we are incredibly thankful for all the support & love we have & will receive.

Rest in Peace sweet Sophia; keep watch over all of us. You will always & forever be in our hearts.
Services for Sophia will be held at Magoun Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland, MA on Monday January 15th from 4pm to 7pm. A funeral mass will follow on Tuesday January 16th at 9am at Holy Family Church in Rockland.

To Sophia's dad: I am so sorry for your loss. Sophia was a special young lady that we met at Dan OBrians dealership. On her first day at work we stopped by just to look at the new Kia Sorrentos and Sophia showed us around and sold us a new car. We were her first sale and she was so proud. She was polite, informative and just an all around pleasant young lady. Every time we went back to dealership she was the one that waited on us. She always was so helpful and a joy to just sit and talk to. She told me about her family and living on the cape. We were so shocked to hear of her death. The world is so full of bad people that would be no loss to anyone yet her life was taken way too soon, we will never forget the amazing young lady that she was. She now is with her Mom and brother and heaven will treat her with the love and dignity she deserves! So sorry for your loss, you have our deepest sympathy..

I met Sophia in 2016 when we were both employed at Genesis Hackett Hill. Despite our age difference, we quickly became friends and neighbors in the same apartment complex. Sophia even accompanied me to a day surgery appointment and stayed with me after. I was grateful for her kindness. She was a bright beautiful light in this world. I don't have enough words to describe my sadness. My condolences to her family, may your memories of her never leave your hearts or fade.

Our beautiful angel on and off this earth - Sophia was a light to everyone she comes in contact with. This loss is insurmountable and devastating to our family. May she find peace in her mother and brother's arms and may our family find solace at this time with the angels among us.

Sophia was one of my best friends and truly an amazing human being. Her and her entire family are incredible people. I met Sophia in our freshman year of high school, and instantly became close. Through the 4 years of high school we did everything together. Whether it was gym class together, meeting between classes, going to Dairy Queen or Dunks after school once I got my license, you name it it was me and her. After high school we remained just as close, and every chance we got we connected. I worked with near her mother and brother for years and we all became family. We would FaceTime and listen to Celine Dion (our favorite) and those memories will be ones I cherish for my entire life. While I am sad that she is no longer a phone call away, I find solace in that she is now with her wonderful mother and brother. I hope the Bonfiglio family stays strong, and Phia I will never let your legacy fade. I love you.

Sophia was one of my classmates & friends that I got to meet in our Cosmetology shop in High School. Although, we weren't the closest friends, we shared many great memories. We'd always laugh & talk in shop & other classes as well as go see one of our favorite local music artists, Tommy Rowland, at his shows when he came to the Cape. My love & thoughts are w/ Sophia's family. She was adored & cared for by so many & she was a true light in the world. May she rest in the sweetest peace!
