Obituary For Shirley Mesheau

Shirley (Blomgren) Mesheau, age 91, of Hanover, died peacefully after a long illness, on October 6, 2022, at Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham.

Beloved wife for 52 years of the late William L. Mesheau. Devoted mother of Linda Mesheau Pratt (Richard) of Hanover, Karen Sellgren (Paul) of Kingston, Virginia (“Jinny”) Humphries (Fred) of Carver, Laurie Kacmarcik (David) of Harrisville, RI, Nancy Mesheau of Plymouth, and David Mesheau of Maui, HI. Dear sister of Roy Blomgren and sister-in-law Alison of TN. Loving and cherished grandmother of Janice Pratt, Christopher Pratt, Michael Drummond, Erick Drummond, Paul Drummond, Mark Stewart, Laura Lima, and Brian Stewart and great-grandmother to William and Colton Pratt, Julia and Elizabeth Drummond, Kristian Dawes, Hannah and Erick Drummond, Jr., Gavin Drummond, Grace Stewart, Marie, Nora, Ryan, and Brandon Lima, and Sarah Stewart. Also survived by her sister-in-law Rose Mesheau (Ronald), brother-in-law John (“Jack”) Mesheau (Carol), many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, dear next-door neighbor, Norma Sides, and many loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.

Shirley grew up in Braintree and graduated from Braintree High School. After high school, Shirley worked in the office at Armstrong Cork Company in Braintree where she met Bill, the love of her life. Shirley worked in retail and made many friends in her years at T.D. Whitney, at Merchants Row in Hanover, and the Hallmark stores in Pembroke and Hanover. She was a member of North River Eastern Star and was the first Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Assembly in Hanover. She was a great cook and loved to entertain family and friends. She and Bill traveled extensively with friends and with Bill’s Eighth Armored Division, Army Reunion group.

The family extends their thanks to the staff of Queen Anne Nursing Home especially those on the South wing who provided such kind, compassionate care in her three years at Queen Anne, and to Autumn Hospice who provided palliative care in her last two months.

Arrangements were under the care of Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home. See www.magounbiggins.com for online condolences. Interment is private.

    I have many warm memories of "Mom" Mesheau growing up ...she will forever be fondly remembered in my heart and missed ..may she RIP....Love Dorinda Whiting Piro

    I am so sad to hear about Shirley. I have so many wonderful memories of "The Putnam Girls". From baby showers to Christmas Parties and all our gatherings outside of work. I will always remember Shirley's contagious laughter. She will be missed. ❤️
