Bruce, I remember your Mom, always around and visible and knowing that things were OK on her neighborhood, a constant presence on Webster Street as we grew up. In later years, when we met she always had smile, a kind word and a an interest in how our families were. She will be missed, but how fortunate you were to have her in your lives for so long. May she rest in eternal peace.

Mrs. Carrico was always someone I admired and aspired to be like through the years. Her great sense of humour, ready smile and readiness to always do something with "the girls" when Marcia and I visited was a joy! This angel will never need to earn her wings...she has them wrapped around her and all the family she is joining. My deepest sympathies to all of the family, especially to my dearest friend in life, Marcia. My thoughts and love are with you all.

  • 05/25/2021

I will always remember Mrs. Carrico as being the kindest person I knew as I was growing up. She would always tell me to come on in because she had a special treat for me. She will be missed by many. But she left many happy memories for all of us. My thoughts go out to the whole Carrico family.

It is with deep sadness we send our heartfelt sympathy with hope that the many thoughts and prayers of all who love you and your mom will offer some sense of comfort in the coming days. Aunt Shirley will be missed by many. For us, special occasions and summer cookouts won’t be the same. With Love, Debbie and John.

I never got to meet Shirley, but I am very good friends with her son, John and his wife Brenda. I think we would have had a lot in common. Including the "white nightly". Onita May from Texas

Rest In Peace Shirley, I will never forget your kindness you showed me as both a student at Esten school and right up through my adult life. I will always have you in my thoughts and prayers.

  • 05/25/2021

I will always remember her generosity to us when we were kids. Loved those times in the pool! She always had time to show you a new craft of hers or offer you a treat. More importantly she always had a watchful eye on my mom's house when she was living alone at 82 Webster St. She would call me to let me know "I haven't seen your mom's car move in a day - is she away?" Just a wonderful women!

I want all of you to know how much Shirl meant to me. She was one of the greatest ladies I will ever know. She raised six wonderful children whom she was so proud of, and did most of it as a single mother. She not only had a spontanious smile, but the ability to make others smile. She has had me laughing so hard I cried over something as simple as a belly button brush and snow man poop. Shirl is gone now, but she will never be forgotten. She will always have a place in my heart. Do you hear the music? Do you hear the laughter? Do you hear it?? That's Shirl, your Dad, Evie, Ollie and all the rest dancing in the street. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Aunt Shirley wasn't my aunt by blood...but I've only ever known her as "Aunt Shirley". She never minded me calling her that either. I always enjoyed her funny stories. She would have everyone around her in stitches. Just last week we were joking about her finally being of drinking age...because she was always young at heart. Aunt Shirley..I loved you and will always think of you with a smile.
