Shirley was always kind to me. When my dad, her neighbor, needed childcare help in the wake of a divorce, she watched over me so I didn't burn down the neighborhood. She drove me and her kids to and from the bus stop... until I broke her car door. She proudly surveyed her yard and flowers and garden – which were, without exaggeration, the pride of the neighborhood - through her front window... until I threw a frisbee through it. She didn't generally seem to suffer fools, but somehow she suffered me. I will miss her. Jeannie, Raymond, and Marianne, I'm thinking of you and I promise not to damage your property.
