Obituary For Sheila A. Ward

Sheila Ward 79, of Hanson, died Saturday, June 15, 2019 after a period of failing health. Sheila was born on February 8, 1940 to the late John and Catherine (Anderson) Glennon. Sheila was raised and educated in Brookline graduating from Brookline High School as a member of The Class of 1958. She went on to Boston State College where she would graduate with a bachelor's degree in 1962. Sheila continued her education at Cambridge College, where she would earn her master's degree in Education. After college, Mrs. Ward taught at the Ashfield School in Brockton. She later went on to teach at The Maquan Elementary School in Hanson where she would shape hundreds of young minds for many years. Mrs. Ward's students remember her fondly for her kind heart and infectious spirit. Sheila was a long-time communicant of St. Joseph The Worker Church in Hanson where she served the parish in many capacities. She was a Eucharistic Minister, Sodality Member, Scholarship Committee Member, Couples Club Member and CCD Teacher. Mrs. Ward was also a member of The Massachusetts, Plymouth County, and Hanson Teachers Association's. Mrs. Ward was the beloved Wife of William T. Ward of Hanson. Mother of Colleen McCarthy and her Husband Dennis of Scituate. Grandmother of Patrick W. McCarthy. Also survived by several cousins whom she referred to as sisters, a sister in law, and several nieces and nephews. The Ward Family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Sheila's life in The Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home Rockland MA 02370 on Thursday June 20, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday June 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM in The St. Joseph The Worker Church in Hanson. Burial will follow in The Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson. Donations in Sheila's name may be made to The American Parkinson's Association 72 E Concord St, Boston, MA 02118.

I could not have asked for a better teaching partner when we worked together for several years at Maquan.     Bill,Colleen & family, So sorry to hear of Sheila passing. She was a wonderfuland greatly loved by so many people she touch over her lifetime. She always called me Mrs Joyce and had my daughter Colleen in her 4th grade and she is now 46yrs old and still have warm memories of her being one of her favorite teachers. May her soul rest in peace. Deepest sympathies for your loss.

    Billy, I have such fond memories of teaching with your beloved Sheila--such a wonderful, kind, fun and spirited lady. Dearest Colleen I have fond memories of you in my class. Your Mom was always there for you with her love and care. Now she is with you in spirit. She will be greatly missed but is now at peace I am in Florida but you and your Dad will be in my prayers.

    So saddened about the passing of a friend and Maquan colleague, dear Sheila. Always kept informed of her progress even though we reside in Florida. Our sympathy to Bill, Colleen, and family. Extra sunny prayers will be sent to the family.

    I remember Mrs. Ward from years ago. She was an amazing teacher and an even more amazing person. I do not remember many teachers from Maquan, but she was definitely memorable.

    My sincere condolences to Billy and Colleen on Sheila's passing. She was such a valued friend to so many and such a treasured friend and colleague to Paula. May she Rest In Peace as her legacy lives on in Colleen and the hundreds of children who were her students over the years. Sheila made a difference in the lives of those she touched!
