Years ago when I was a little girl I lived next door to the Cotter family and loved going over to play with their children. I remember Shawn as a very nice man who loved his children and was saddened to recently see his picture in Rockland center on a poster for his dedication benefit. Your family is in my prayers...

The news of his passing has deeply saddened me, but I will always remember his words of encouragement and his love of education. He was a true gentleman whom everyone admired. The world has lost a great man, but we were blessed to have known him. Peace be with you all... Kelsey and Gordon Shaw

It is with great sadness knowing Abington has lost one of its own in his battle against cancer. Far too young! Shawn's commitment to family, friends and all of his contributions have impacted the very fiber of our community and hence our daily lives. Our prayers go to those he left behind. May they offer comfort now and in the days to follow. Robyn B Fernald Chair of the Abington Historical Commission
