Obituary For Shawn E LaFrance

Shawn Edson LaFrance of Rockland, Massachusetts died Saturday, April 1, 2023 at his home. He was born August 1964, in Auburn - Lewiston, Maine. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, and three children; his son Kristopher, his son Kyle, and his daughter Krystal. Shawn's life began in Maine, where he always spoke of his fondest memories, living with Grampy and Nana Dudzik as a child and growing up with some of his cousins Bunky, Jay, Mike and Steve. They all inspired the love and passion he held for family, sports and the outdoors. Shawn, despite being an only child, loved when the family got together as he adored his cousins. When he was younger, he was very easily influenced by the older boys, not always in a good way and the stories told would make us laugh until we cried. Yet even when he was in the dog house with Nana, because he chose to follow those bad influences, his devotion never waivered. Every minute with family was precious. Shawn always had a smile and kind words for everyone. He always gave more than he took.Later Shawn moved to Massachusetts. He started with living in the Cape and then moved to Rockland, where he graduated High School. Afterwards, he attended Automotive Trade School. Upon completion, he worked for E.T. Wrights Shoe Manufacturing before applying to Venture Tape in Rockland, later transitioning to 3M. Shawn began his career 36 years ago, he was featured in newspaper articles as a Machine Operator in Converting and later becoming a Supervisor in Coating. Shawn always looked for new ways to improve, whether it be in the process or himself. Always making an effort to positively contribute to the company and fellow workers, whom many he called friends. He had a commitment to excellence with a readiness to learn, a knack for creative thinking, and a willingness to put people and the needs of the business first. He had a natural ability to excel in anything he pursued, and his personal life was no exception.Shawn was a jack of all trades and a bit of a macgyver. He had a knack for some unconventional problem solving, which at times, was both amusing and quite clever. His knowledge spans form mechanic, machinist, carpentry, plumbing and electrical, in which he always inspired someone. Shawn was at heart an avid outdoorsman, from the time he was young. Starting with skiing, Shawn continued to excel, from skiing competitions to then becoming an instructor. He loved spending time with family and friends going hunting, fishing, hiking, biking and camping; with the occasional bon fires. Shawn was a long time member of the Hanson Rod & Gun Club as an RSO, where he met a lot of his closest friends whom he loved dearly. From water to land, he was a motorsport enthusiast of all kinds; whether two, three, four or even on one wheel. He enjoyed his CBR600, however the tickets were a problem! He transitioned to his Harley Davidson which he loved riding, from FundRaising Events, Halloween Runs to Sturbridge, until his neck injury kept him from riding. Shawn dedicated himself to his family and friends. Though Shawn kept a private side to himself, he was a good man. Humble, loyal, kind hearted soul, proud and at times a bit stubborn. Shawn was funny, he always brought life to the party, wherever he went with jokes and stories, no one was a stranger to him. As we celebrate Shawn life’s, this is just a small reflection, and we will miss him greatly.Shawn’s family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Tuesday April 11, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 PM.

Kathleen, Kris, Krystal, and Kyle, my thoughts are with you all. 24 years we new each other everyday at work making jokes and laughing at times to the point we had tears. i will miss you dearly especially talks about motorcycles guns and family. You are one of the few good men that always cared about others and held family dearly A true friend is never truly gone. The bond between friends is beyond the mortal world. I can still feel Shaun with me everyday, helping me make it through. Shaun I know you will be by my side, and your friends and family, forever in spirit. They always say friends are the family we choose. Being freinds with you was one of the greatest moment of my life and when you passed, it was the worst moment of my life. I am better for knowing you, better for having met you. May you be as blessed in the next life, my friend, as I was in this one by knowing you. The friendships transcends death. The Memories you made with family and freinds will never be forgotten and created a lasting impression on those you left behind. Everyone became a better person for having such a wonderful friend and family man like you Shaun. "Saying goodbye isn't for me. Instead, I will say that I look forward to seeing my friend again, each time I am reminded of you through a phrase, or your favorite place to sit. These are the things that will keep us close despite death." RIP MY FREIND

24 years we were together everyday at work making it happen (the dynamic duo). We always enjoyed pestering and nagging each other like an old married couple. I will miss the coffee runs and sharing a smoke, or when you would have Kathy bring the dogs up to visit at the plant just to scare me. Shawn I will miss you, I hope there are Dunkins in heaven for angels. rest easy little buddy
