THE FOLLOWING WAS SHARED BY SARAH'S FAMILY;
Sarah was an old soul in a young body She spread so much love She put others before herself by nature She touched so many lives providing for the people who also were touched by life threatening illnesses. She wasn't afraid to tell it how it is Sarah is an angel
On July 5th, our son Christopher married his longtime love Sarah. Our family gained a beautiful daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin & friend. She has been such a long-term part of our family. All that was left was to make it official. In May, Sarah had been diagnosed with stage IV non-differentiated sarcoma of the abdomen, after dealing with bladder tumor removal and surgery complications since February. Sarah had fought cancer at age 4,10, 21 and again at age 25. Excruciatingly, she isn't going to win this battle and our hearts are shattered. We honestly thought we had months left, but sadly we were told Sunday we probably only have this week. I ask that you pray for our family during this most difficult challenge of our lives. Pray for Christopher, to mourn, to heal and to find joy once again. Thank you to so many of you who have been standing alongside us through this ordeal. For those of you who came to celebrate their love on July 5th. It was the most beautiful day ever.
Please help support Sarah & Chris while they fight for their Dream. Christopher and Sarah met each other at Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford,CT at the age of 13 and 14. They were part of the summer session for campers affected by oncology and hematology disorders, and in that short week, they developed a bond to last a lifetime. They rekindled their relationship in 2009 and haven't looked back since. Sarah, a two-time cancer survivor, developed a tumor outside her bladder that same summer, and with the support of family, friends and Christopher, she endured 28 days of radiation and was given a clean bill of health. She continued on to finish her Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy at Quinnipiac College, graduating in 2013. As their relationship continued to grow, naturally it came back full circle to camp. They both began working as camp counselors at Dream Day on Cape Cod in the summer of 2010. Dream Day, located in Brewster, Massachusetts is a family camp for children with life threatening illnesses. Families spend 5 nights at camp with others who face a life of constant challenges raising a child with a chronic to life threatening disease. In the summer of 2012, Sarah was named the Camp Director and Chris the Facilities Director of Dream Day, and again for the summer of 2013. Who better to understand the challenges children face than them? They stayed onsite as caretakers through the winters in their cozy cabin in the woods, deep in Nickerson State Park, together at their beloved Dream Day Camp. Their life revolved around camp. On Christmas Eve 2013, Chris asked Sarah to marry him after 5 years, they made it official! Sarah worked as a paraprofessional at the Eddy School in Brewster with children with special needs while also working at Shaw's Supermarkets in South Yarmouth. Chris worked on completing his Associates Degree in Environmental Studies at Cape Cod Community College while working nights at Shaw's. They both planned and hosted the annual Dream Day Christmas party, while preparing for the summer camp season of 2014. In February 2014, after undergoing biopsies, Sarah was diagnosed with undifferentiated sarcoma after having a tumor removed from her bladder. Despite some surgical complications, the prognosis appeared to be bright. In early May, Sarah was readmitted to Boston Children's hospital to learn that the cancer had reoccurred and chemotherapy would be the only treatment. Radiation is not an option because of previous therapies, and neither is surgery given the location and the number of tumors.
With great sadness they both gave their notice that they would not return to their beloved Dream Day on Cape Cod for the summer session of 2014. Sarah's battle has become the priority, along with their marriage. In the face of it all, the one thing that still remains the most important to the two of them is to pledge their love to one another for as long as Sarah can continue to fight. On behalf of Sarah & Chris's family & friends we thank you for your support.

I am so sad to hear this! I was fortunate to touch base with Sarah and Paul one afternoon at Children's. I loved seeing their wedding pictures from this amazing Camp couple. I also remember them as Campers at Camp. They have both carried on the love of Camp at their own camp and in their community. A truly sad loss. My heart goes out to the entire family. To my dear friend Fran Walker and her family and Chris and his family, we have lost the brightest light in the loss of our dear Sarah. Her beautiful smile lit up the world and brought such joy to all who were fortunate to have her in their lives. To know Sarah is to know life filled with unconditional love and a giving heart. We always ask why someone so young and with much more to give to the world is taken from us and we never find and answer. The one thing we can hold onto is that Sarah is with her father Philip, her uncles Grant and Ed, her aunt Lorraine and many more who will take her hand and lead her to a new path. We will always keep you in our hearts Sarah. Betty Curry South Yarmouth, MA Aug. 5, 2014

Our hearts are so saddened and grieve with you. Sarah's smile could brighten any room or any mood. We are so fortunate as a family to have met Sarah and spent two weeks at camp and holiday weekends with her. My girls loved her to pieces and Sarah always had love to give back. Always. Thanks for the fond memories. You will be missed.
