Obituary For Samuel A. Foresta

Samuel A. Foresta Jr., passed away in Naples Florida on February 15, 2022 at age 81. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 57 years Kathleen Foresta (Walsh), his daughters Debbie Foresta & John Campbell of Norwell and Cheryl Sheehan (Foresta) & Thomas Sheehan of Rockland. Loving Papa to his 4 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Macayla, Colin and Jack, and his 2 great-grandchildren, Mj and Tommy. Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Barry Foresta. Sam was the son of Samuel A. Foresta Sr. and Sophie Foresta (Benulis). Brother of Rose Mary Glenn and the late Terry Glenn, William & Caroline Foresta and Tom & Debbie Foresta. Brother/Sister in laws David & Rachel Walsh, and the late Johnny & Kerry Walsh. He was a life long resident of Rockland, MA. He was a graduate of Rockland High School Class of 1959 and was Captain of the 1958 Football Team. He attended the University of Miami and Stone Hill College. Sam was a prominent business man, he was the owner of South Shore Package Store and the Social Club in Rockland. He later worked for the Safety Department of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. A member of the Athletic Boosters Club of Rockland High School, the 120 Club in Rockland the Rockland Democratic Town Committee and Mac’s lunch Bowling League for over 20 years.

He and his wife Kathleen had a love for travel, having gone on over 30 cruises, and spending 14 winters in Hawaii, moving to their new home in Florida. He leaves behind many very special friends that he met during all his travels.

Sam will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.

The Foresta family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Sam’s life at a funeral service being held at Saint Mary’s Church in Hanover, MA on March 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., followed by Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland, MA. Gathering to follow at daughter Debbie’s house for remembrance, stories and laughter. 234 Pine Street, Norwell, MA

    I'm so very sorry for your loss. Mr Foresta have me my first job way back in 1983 when I was 13 . Sorting empties at his package store. He had a heart of gold ,& will definitely be missed. 🙏🙌❤️

    Sam is my little brother; we called him Junior. When he was 2years old he had his tonsils out in South Shire Hospital. When my mother and Dad went to take him home, he said,"get me out of this stinky place"! All through the years we have found great joy recalling his precious words as a two year old!
