Obituary For Ruth Gobeil
Ruth (Emery) Gobeil, 82 of Rockland died on May 17, 2012, after a period of failing health. She was born in Biddeford Maine daughter of the late Herbert and Mabel (Ashmon) Emery. She was raised and educated in Biddeford, and had lived in Weymouth and Rockland for the past 60 years.
Ruth earned an associates degree in Nursing from Massasoit Community College as well as another Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from North Eastern University. She had worked at The Colony House Nursing Home in Abington for many years. Ruth also worked as a substitute school nurse in the Rockland Public Schools. She was a fifty year member of the VFW auxiliary and was a past president of the group. She was also was a member of the Rockland Council on Aging, and the Red Hat Society. Ruth was a Eucharistic Minister at the Holy Family Church in Rockland. Ruth loved to travel. She had visited all 50 states as well as 6 different countries.
She was the mother of, Elizabeth Wyman of Rockland, Nancy Hurley of Plymouth, Richard A. Gobeil of PA, and Robert D. Gobeil of Rockland. Sister of Richard Emery of Raynham. Also survived by 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
The Gobeil family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Ruth's life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland on Sunday May 20, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday May 21, 2012 at 9:00 AM in the Holy Family Church in Rockland MA.

I have very vivid wonderful memories of our family Christmas Eve gatherings at Aunt Ruth's house when I was a child. It was so much fun and great to be together in a warm cozy house on a cold winter night. Great memories.

Ruth was a member of the Rockland Golden Agers for many years. We are donating $15 in her memory to the Rockland COA. She was a good friend to all of us, even though she has been ill for some time. We have very fond memories of your Mom.. For me personally, she made me a Red hat scarf that I will always treasure. So sorry for the loss of a wonderful person Cynda Childs
