Russell F. Franzen

May 31st, 1953 - March 28th, 2025

Russell “Rusty” Franzen, 71, passed away after a short battle with cancer on March 28, 2025, in Kingston, Massachusetts.

Rusty was born on May 31, 1953, in Weymouth and grew up in Rockland. After attending Rockland public schools he went on to South Shore Vocational Technical High school, excelling in the electrical program. In his professional career, he worked for Stadelmann Electric, Mercken’s Chocolates, and Caruso Electrical Contracting before retiring in 2002.

Rusty was an avid golfer who found joy in the sport. Whether playing a casual round or watching the old pros on TV, golf was one of his greatest pleasures. He was also widely known among those close to him for his homemade spaghetti sauce—a recipe learned from his mother, perfected over time, and shared with love at countless family gatherings.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Mary; his daughter, Sarah; his beloved grandson, Richard; his brother and wife, Christopher and Kathy; as well as his nieces and nephew. His presence will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years Deborah; brothers Douglas and William; sister Barbara; and parents Frederick and Helen.
