Obituary For Russell Bruce Sharpe

Russell Bruce Sharpe died on December 7th at the Bedford Massachusetts Veterans Administration Hospital following a 4-year hospitalization due to the unrelenting progression of Alzheimer's disease. He turned 62 years old on December 2nd. Son of Elizabeth Sharpe-Slinger and the late George L. Sharpe; step-son of the late Gordon F. Slinger; he leaves his siblings Denise L. Sharpe of Brockton, David J. Sharpe of Abington, and his only nephew David P. Sharpe of Stoughton.

Russell was born in South Weymouth and grew up in Rockland, graduating from RHS in 1972. He then joined the U.S Air Force where he served 12 years, attained rank of Staff Sergeant, and was stationed in Japan, Greece, Germany and various Air force bases in the U.S. After leaving the Air Force, he spent the next 20 years in Saudi Arabia employed by SOMAC Facilities Management and the Al Mastasick Contracting Co.

His family wants to express their appreciation to the very special staff of Unit 62 CD at the Bedford VA Hospital for the caring, love, and compassion shown to Russell during the time he spent there. Russell was a good son and sibling, a kind and generous person, a true friend, and had much faith.

Sharpe, Unit 62 CD, for Patient Activities Unit 62 CD. Include your name & address for acknowledgement of donation. If preferred, donation can be directed to Dementia Research rather than Patient Activities.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St Rockland, MA on Saturday ,December 12th, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Following visitation, a funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
