Obituary For Rosemary A. Keaveney
Rosemary A. (Petrone) Keaveney, 90 a longtime resident of Norwell passed away on Friday June 19, 2015 after a period of failing health at the Royal Nursing Home in Norwell.
Daughter of the late Patrick and Rose (Condi) Petrone, Rosemary was born in Boston, raised in South Boston and attended Boston schools. Rosemary started her career in customer service with the John Hancock Insurance Company in 1944 before retiring from the Citizens Bank in 1989.
Rosemary was predeceased by the love of her life her husband James Keaveney as well as her two children James "Skip" Keaveney and Pamela McGuiness. Rosemary is survived by her devoted son in law Robert McGuiness and daughter in law Francis Keaveney. She is also survived by her nephews Mark Bailey, Joel Bailey and Arthur Brookfield as well as nieces Kate Anderson and her "second daughter" Priscilla Douglass.
She was a fanatic New England Patriots fan who had to watch the games alone because of her choice words of encouragement when the team was behind. After most games Rosemary was physically exhausted from her running and jumping to the events on the television. She needed her team roster to yell at the players by name. Rosemary enjoyed the Red Sox when they were winning. Rosemary also enjoyed playing golf in Rockland and in Florida where she wintered at Thunderbird Park in Fort Myers.
Rosemary enjoyed travelling with her friends. She was a volunteer for numerous organizations during her retirement years to include South Shore Hospital, the Red Cross and the Norwell Council of Aging. A longtime communicant at Saint Helens, Rosemary so enjoyed Sunday Mass and her trip to Friendly's afterwards with the "Church Ladies."
Her family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland at 9:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Saint Helens Church in Norwell. Burial to follow at the Washington Street Cemetary. Donations to honor her memory can be made to Norwell Visiting Nurse Association, 120 Longwater Drive Norwell, MA 02061.
