Obituary For Rosemarie Mesheau

Rosemarie (Cobb) Mesheau, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on May 3rd.

Rose was born in Montpelier, VT, on March 7, 1934. She moved to Massachusetts as a young child, first to Weymouth and then to Hanover, where she graduated from Hanover High School in 1951. After marrying Charles R. Mesheau (Ronnie) in 1955, they moved to Norwell and settled in to raise their family. In 2000, they moved into their retirement home at Jacobs Pond Estates, where they enjoyed many years of meeting new friends and making wonderful memories until Ronnie’s passing in 2012.

Rose spent the majority of her career working in several South Shore nursing facilities as a cook and dietary manager. She loved creating delicious and nourishing meals for the hundreds of elderly patients in her care until her retirement in 2002. She then worked for the Norwell Senior Work program as a cafeteria aide at the G.F. Cole Elementary School until her second retirement at 83! She was active in town politics, never missing a town meeting, and was a poll worker for many years.

Rose devoted her life to her family and friends, creating a warm and welcoming home for all. There was always a delicious treat baking in the oven. She was best known for her Whoopie pies, peanut brittle, and blueberry muffins.

She was the loving mother of Donna Buckley (Jim) of Plymouth and Gary Mesheau (Nancy) of Rockland, Nanny to Adam Buckley (Laura), Nathan Buckley, Andrew Buckley (Jeanna), Ben Mesheau, Doug Mesheau (Liz), Zach Mesheau (Carina), Alex Mesheau, and Jake Mesheau (Christina). She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren. Rose leaves her sister Fran Zienko of The Villages, FL, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ronnie, sisters Florence Munroe, Marlene Cobb, Annette Whitney, Jeanette Pettinato, and brother Erwin Cobb.

At Rose’s request, funeral services will be private. There will be a celebration of her life later this summer. Donations in her memory may be made to the Norwell Council on Aging 292 Pine Street Norwell, MA 02061

Her family would like to thank the staff on the Rosewood unit at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center for the loving and compassionate care of Rose.
