Obituary For Ronald F LaCombe
Ronald F. LaCombe of Rockland, age 69, lost his valiant battle with cancer on May 31, 2019. For twenty-five years he fought his illness with determination and unwavering courage, and ultimately chose to wage his last battle on his own terms, in the comfort of his own house, surrounded by the people and things that he loved.
Ron was born in Weymouth, the son of George F. LaCombe and Anna V. (Wall) LaCombe. He was the brother of the late George (Buddy) LaCombe and the late Janet M. (LaCombe) Snow.
Ron is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of forty-nine years, Janet (Shea) LaCombe, and his beloved children Kelly (Joe) Molito of Whitman, Derek (Chantel Foley) LaCombe of Whitman, and Danielle (Larry) Boyle of Sandwich. He was the loving Pop Pop of Jack, Kasey, Kaitlyn and James Molito, Bryce LaCombe, and Liam and Nolan Boyle. Ron was so proud of their academic achievements and cheered them on through countless football, soccer, lacrosse, hockey and rugby games. He was most proud, however, of their character and compassion and of the fine young adults they were growing up to be. Ron is also survived by his loving sister-in-law Claire LaCombe, his brother-in-law John Shea, and his very special nieces and nephews Michael (Joan) LaCombe, Michelle (Tim Felstrup) LaCombe, and Marcia (Chip) Brady, along with Brant Brady, Michael Sillar, Ashleigh Anderson, Anna & Ava LaCombe, Luke, Spencer and Olivia Brady, Kaia LaCombe, Johanna (Derek) Parker, and John Parent. He was also the uncle of the late Joshua Ledwell. Ron worked as a collector for Brockton/Eastern Edison for over twenty years, then he worked for a number of years for Shaw's Supermarket. He ended his career at Clean Harbors in Norwell.
Ron was a member of the U.S. Army and served in Okinawa from 1969-1971. His wife Janet joined him there in 1970 and together they had many adventures and stories to tell upon their return.
Ron loved all sports. He played softball for many years for the Sunset Grove team, and then enjoyed playing golf. His skill was evidenced by the three hole- in-one trophies in his possession. He enjoyed watching all the New England teams, a good horse race (and a winning wager), and any sport his children or grandchildren were playing.
When illness prevented him from playing sports, he could be found watching sports surrounded by friends at D'Ann's in Abington. He was beloved by all who crossed his path and admired and respected for his strength and courage in the face of his illness. Ron loved his family, his friends, his cousins (real and "adopted"), the times spent with his cousins from the Tarentino family in Brockton growing up, and life in general. His needs were simple – a good TV, a friend or two to watch it with, and a Miller Lite to share.
Visiting hours will be held at Magoun- Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland on Wednesday, June 5th from 4-7 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Rockland Education Foundation, PO Box 764, Rockland, MA 02370.

Ron and I were at Ft. Benjamin Harrison Finance School together, and then were assigned together to Okinawa Finance. My wife Kris attended Janet and Ron's wedding. Ron was a good guy. I remember most of all his laugh and his smile. A very good man. Jerry Leedom, Springfield, Virginia.

Janet, I was so sorry to hear about Ron's passing. Though we never hung around growing up during our Rockland high school years I always liked Ron and thought he was a great person guy. I also thought of both of you as a great couple. I'll think of you both as time and life go on. God bless him, you, and your family.
