Obituary For Robert L. Duven

Robert Louis Duven, a former Abington resident, passed away on March 22nd in Scottsdale, Arizona after a brief illness. He was 95.

Bob was the son of the late O. Louis Duven and the late Grace (Murphy) Duven, and the oldest brother of the late Edith Duven Flaherty, the late Frances Duven Sayian, and the late Raymond Duven. He was born in Malden, MA in 1920 and grew up in Hopkington and Randolph, graduating from Stetson High School in 1938.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Shortly after the end of the war, he went to work for Bell Telephone and remained there until his retirement. Bob was also a longtime member of the John Cutler Lodge in Abington, which he joined in 1947.

Bob married the late Eleanore Hunter in September of 1949, and they were residents of Abington until Eleanore's death in 1984. Bob relocated to New Mexico not long afterward, then moved to Arizona in 2012. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland, and a private graveside service will be held at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.
