Robert A Hawes, "Bob" age 78, of Rockland MA formerly of Weymouth, died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family on Saturday October 5 2013.

Son of the late Ralph and Florence (Price) Hawes, he was born and raised in Quincy MA

Robert served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Amvets Post 72, Buffalo New York. He was a well known and respected professional in the automotive business where he began his career as a Ford mechanic and moved into senior management.

In his retirement he enjoyed tending his gardens, traveling with his wife, helping his neighbors with his handyman skills and spending time with his cats Bigsby and Lucky.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Elaine T. (Shunstrom),loving father of Wendy A Vaillencourt of Whitman, Robert A Hawes Jr of Rockland, Richard C. Hawes of Boston and Ronald T. Hawes of Weymouth. Brother of Ralph Hawes of Florida, Thelma Hynes of ME, Hollis Hawes of VA and Sandra Robinson of Weymouth and the late Gerald Hawes. He is also survived by 7 grandsons and 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to join us in a celebration of Bob's life on Sunday October 13 from 1pm until 5pm at the Leisurewoods clubhouse on Leisurewoods Drive, Rockland MA. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Massachusetts.
