Obituary For Robert D. Sheehan
Robert Sheehan 71, formerly of Rockland, died peacefully on March 27, at Southwood of Norwell, with his children by his side, after a lengthy illness. Bob was the son of William and Rita (York) Sheehan of Dorchester, where he lived until moving to Rockland in 1972. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving two years of active duty and 24 years in the reserves where he retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a letter carrier for the Rockland Post Office for many years. He also made lifelong friends working at Derringer's Nightclub, the Liberty Tavern, and Players Sports Bar. His favorite past time was spending time with his 5 grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Laurie Moran of Whitman, his son Robert Sheehan and his wife Cindy of Rouses, NY and he was the 2nd father to Sean McInerney of Quincy. He was the proud and loving Papa to Kyle, Meghan, Haley, Jenna and Rylee. He is also survived by his sister Rita Sheehan and her husband Rick of Rockland. His brothers William Sheehan and his wife Kathy of Rockland and James Sheehan and his fiancé Shannon Creney of Bridgewater. Also survived by his Aunt and Uncle James and Dottie Sawaya or Rockland and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his sister Carol Sheehan
Bob's family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland MA from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Funeral Home Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 9:00 AM in Holy Family Church. Burial will follow the Funeral Service in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
