A great sense of humor only matched by his wit. He was a man I have thought, and always will think, very highly of. My prayers and thoughts go out to you all. John J Fahey

If love and prayers worked all the time our Bob would still be here. When I prayed in church last Sunday I told God he was the only one that could let Bob see his first Grandchild I guess he didn't hear me. I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart. Paul & Kathy Lucchetti Scituate

To Mr. Scott’s family and friends, You may know him better as Bob, but to the many students he taught at Silver Lake over the years he was always Mr. Scott. It has been 5 years since I took my last class with him, but I will always remember how great and how fun of a teacher he was. I took one of his classes every single year from Freshmen to Senior year because it was a guaranteed hour block of my day where I knew I would be having a good time. He taught us all so much, and was by far one of the greatest teachers that I have ever had. I’m certainly not the only one of his student’s who feels this way, and I think I speak for everyone who ever sat in a classroom with him when I say all of this. He was a great man who will be missed by many.

Very sad to have lost my friend and mentor. Bob was the absolute best. I'll miss his friendship and his guidance. I'm glad to have know him and Lee for the majority of my life and always had fun when we got together. I haven't met a more genuinely caring man than Bob. I have tons of stories and memories of how he has impacted my life throughout the years. I'll miss you my friend.

Dear Lee, Writer and I were deeply saddened to hear of Bob's passing. We will always cherish the memories as expectant parents at our child birthing classes at South Shore Hospital; the Scotts, the Jones and the D'Elias. We shared so much fun and laughter, especially Bob's iconic laughter, that was the hallmark of our friendship. Our love goes out to you and the boys. Chrisann & Writer

I met Bob 20 some odd years back when he worked on building a deck and barn at my house(which I must say came out perfect!). He later went on to create and build a beautiful kitchen, including the most incredible cabinets! I was first impressed with his skill, workmanship, work ethic, honesty, and his attention to detail and breath of knowledge about all phases of his work(and others I might add). An artisan, a true renaissance man! At times when he would explain what he was doing , in ways that he would make sure you would understand it and then walk away that much more informed, I often thought how lucky his students were to have such a patient, well versed, easy going man as a teacher. Over the years my wife and I ,along with Steve(who worked with Bob for many years!) and Connie Chandler would gather to socialize, and I would see then, the caring, humorous, side of this grand man! He amazed me how honed his listening skills were, and always seemed to learn from others on the spot-truly showing a genuine interest in whatever the topic was at hand!! Oh yeah, one other thing that I admired him for, was how involved he was , in so many ways, with his two boys, and as well, with his students, some of whom worked the trade with him! I remember on site at my house, Bob patiently explaining with pencil on a scrap of 2X4 , to one of his students , the how's and why's of what they were going to do next!! A true teacher all the time. I know I learned a lot from him whenever I was with him, and for those moments, I shall always be grateful. Thank you Bob-it was a pleasure and an honor to have known you

To the Scott Family, we are so sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I hsve known him for a long time. He and his boys were just joining Troop 57 when my son was leaving, then I ran into him while teaching at Silver Lake and again back to Troop 57 with my two grandsons, Jason and Justin Kinan. We all had great respect for Bob and learned so much from him! We are all so sorry for you loss! Sorry we cannot be there with you as we have moved to Georgia, but we will be there in spirit. You are all in our thoughts and prayers!

Lee, Jason & Gary....Debbie and I are so very sorry for your loss. We were saddened to learn Bob had passed at such a young age. Your whole family played a very important role in our son John's life. John learned so very much from Bob in Scouting and from Jason in academics. Bob had a very patient way of teaching and shaping the boy's future values in ways that they will remember all of their lives. Bob will be remembered as a good father, leader, teacher, mentor, neighbor and friend. Our thoughts are with your family during this very difficult time. God Bless. John and Debbie Mearls

  • 05/25/2021

Dear Scott Family: I just heard the new of Bob's passing yesterday. I wish I had been at Camp Squanto this weekend to hear the prayer my good friend Rev. Stephen Trimble gave. Bob was a leader, a teacher, a father, a husband, a mentor, etc. and he did all these things with such wisdom, grace and effortlessness. He touched the lives of so many that I don't think he even knew how much of an impact he made on so many lives. The prayers and condolences of the entire Draves family as well as Troop 5 Scituate go out to the entire Scott Family. Know that he is in a better place and he will be waiting for you. He will be remembered for yours to come.

"To the Scott Family, I had the pleasure of knowing and being mentored by Bob approximately 5 years ago when I was a long term substitute teacher in his Department at Silver Lake HS. Being of similar ages, and considering entering the profession, he was very thoughtful and deliberate in defining the role of teacher, and encouraged me to seek a permanent teaching position. Although fate decided differently, I will always remember his kindness and dedication to his craft.

Dear Lee and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I did not hear about this until recently or I would have been at his services. Bob was a great teacher, MENTOR and a friend. Most of my fond memories was his class in high school, in which we where the first student he taught. He was a true craftsman and I learned a LOT from him, which I am very grateful! May he rest in peace, Mitch Leaman (class of 79')
