Richard (Rick) Armstrong, 76 of Rockland, MA passed away peacefully at home August 2, 2026 surrounded by his family after a long battle with dementia.

Rick was born in Boston, the oldest of six children. Son of the late David and Lillian (Fitzgibbon) Armstrong. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen (Cronin) Armstrong. He is survived by his three children Lori Heney and her husband John, Lisa Makarski and her husband Steven and Jeffrey Armstrong and his wife Renee. Bubba to his seven grandchildren, Tia Peredetto, Gregory Makarski, Mitchell Heney, Matthew Makarski, Christopher Armstrong, Hannah Makarski and Brett Armstrong. Rick also had four Great Grandchildren, Oliver, Jasen, Winston and Adrianna.

Rick married his true love and high school sweetheart Karen. Together they built a life full of love and happiness. Their love story was one talked about by all that knew them and one we all strive to have. The love he had for Karen showed everyday. He was a wonderful father who volunteered for many of their activities. His family could go to him for help with anything.

Rick’s other love was football, he played youth, high school and then for the Randolph Oilers. He had a passion for the sport and enjoyed coaching youth football for many years. He even came back to coach his grandsons alongside Jeffrey. Lots of fond memories were made at the football field. He enjoyed watching all his grandchildren in all their various activities. Rick also loved to play pool and joined many pool leagues. He taught many to play in the basement billiard room. Lots of family parties included Rick asking who wanted to play pool.

Family time out by the pool in the hot sun was his favorite. Whether it was hosting Kids Day for the grandkids and their friends, Lobster Fest for his and Karen’s friends or a Father’s Day Open and turning the yard into a mini golf course, he loved to host parties. He liked to cook and hosted many dinner parties for friends and family. He became quite the chef. Him and Karen loved to travel. Cruises, weekends on the cape and anywhere else they wanted to explore. They always enjoyed their time together.
