Obituary For Richard M. Sullivan

Richard M. Sullivan, 71 of E. Bridgewater formerly of Abington and Pembroke died on November 11, 2010 at the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a period of failing health. He was born in Boston, son of the late Patrick and Clara (Richardson) Sullivan and was raised and educated in Dorchester. He retired in 2008 after more than 40 years as an electrician at Thayer Scale Co. in Pembroke. Mr. Sullivan was an avid antique car aficionado and was a member of the Pacesetters Club. He was proud of his hand built HO scale train set. He was an active member of St. Bridget Parish in Abington. Husband of the late Rosemary (Clancy) Sullivan, he is survived by his children, Richard M. Sullivan, Jr. and his wife Hong of Rockland, Janet Barry of E. Bridgewater and Mary E. Francis of Abington. He was also the grandfather of Ashley and Andrew Barry and Larry and Ryan Francis. The Sullivan family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Richard’s life on Sunday, November 14, 2010 in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 9:00 AM at St. Bridget’s Church in Abington. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o St. Bridget Parish 455 Plymouth St. Abington, Ma. 02351.

    I worked briefly with Sully at Thayer, and enjoyed talking with him. After the loss of his wife I saw what a real love was about. It was a glad day for me when he told of trying to help another man deal with his grief. Now he is at peace and with the love of his life.
