Obituary For Richard E. Ide
Richard "Rick" Edwin Ide, Jr., formerly of Rockland, Massachusetts and Rock Hill, South Carolina, died unexpectedly following a medical event at his home in Cavite, Philippines on February 14, 2026.
Rick was born in Boston on January 14, 1957, to Joan N. Kenworthy and the late Richard E. Ide, Sr. His early school days began in Quincy, then moved to Rockland in '68 where he attended Rockland High School, slayed on the local basketball courts, and built lifelong connections in a tight-knit neighborhood of family and friends. After earning his degree in chemical engineering at UMass Amherst, Rick established a solid career in the water treatment industry which took him around the world and where he was highly regarded as a specialist in wastewater membrane filtration. Like any good ex-New Englander he was also a true-blue Patriots and Celtics fan, though in his free time he mostly enjoyed traveling with his love Tess and just catching up with old friends.
Rick leaves behind his cherished wife Teresa (Tess) Atacador Ide and extended family in the Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, Philippines; his loving mom, Joan Kenworthy of Rockland; brother Dave and sisters Susan, Cathy and Margaret and her husband Joe Grispi; and nephews Mike, Harry and niece May Soo. He was predeceased by his step-father Jim Kenworthy; father Richard Ide Sr.; siblings-in-law Cindy Ide and Kevin Donovan; and former wife Sybil Davis Ide.
Rick will be forever remembered for his unwavering optimism, genuine love and respect for everyone in his many circles, and his Spock-like ears.
A celebration of life is being held in the Philippines on Sunday, February 22, 2026. A local gathering in Ricky's memory will be planned at a later date

So sad to hear this, Rick was always one of the all-time "Good Guys". After I moved to Seattle, Rick had a job in the area and went through the trouble to look me up (before internet in the 80s). We were able to meet and enjoy a few beers. Definitely the type of person anyone will miss after meeting him.
