Obituary For Rena Marcia Ryan

Rena Marcia (Horenstein) Ryan, 78 of Pembroke. Died on February 20, 2018 at the Beth Isreal Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. She was born on October 2, 1939 in Boston to Isadore and Edith (Domenico) Horenstein. Rena was raised and educated in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Ryan was a dedicated homemaker who previously worked for the Bank of New England Mutual Funds Department in Boston. She also worked in the claims department for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Rockland. Rena had several pastimes in her retirement. She was well known for her cooking, bargain shopping, and bragging about her grandchildren. While Rena was an avid New England sports fan she enjoyed watching all sports and was even known to make her husband watch the occasional tennis match. Despite following many talented athletes, Rob Gronkowski was always Rena's favorite. When not watching sports, Rena prided herself in staying up to date with a variety of current events.

Rena was the loving wife of Robert D. Ryan for 59 years. She was the mother of Donna L. and her husband the late Gerhard Oberle Jr. of Hanson, Rick A. of Harwich and Michael D. and his wife Jennifer (Edwards) of S. Portland, Maine. Rena, a proud Nana, leaves behind her grandchildren Julianne Tauscher, Meghen LaBelle, Kaitlyn Oberle, Jennifer Oberle, James Oberle, Nolan Ryan and the late Greg Oberle. She will also be dearly missed by her six great grandchildren.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland, MA. Burial will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to, Learn to Cope 4 Court Street Suite 110 Taunton, MA 02780. www.learn2cope.org.
