Obituary For Rena M. Strachan
Rena M. (Cobbett) Strachan, 73 of Hanover died on Friday, January 11,2008 at her home. She was born in Hanover daughter of the late Lester and Beatrice (Fritz) Cobbett and was one of seven children. Rena was a lifelong Hanover resident and was a very active citizen in town. Mrs Strachan was a member of the First Baptist Church where she volunteered her time on the Church Council. Rena also volunteered her time with the Hanover Food Pantry, and with The Hanover Council on Aging. Mrs. Strachan made her career as a wife and mother, but also spent time working for Sevigny's Candy Company in Hanover, Crawford Products of Hanover, and at Roman Research Co. in Pembroke for several years. She is survived by her husband William J. Strachan. Her children Marianne Kerr of Rockland, Christine Strachan of Hanson, and Michelle Smith of Rockland and two sisters Gloria Hawley of NY, and Dorothy Gardner of Brockton. Rena is also survived by 7 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild and several Nieces and Nephews. A funeral was held on Thursday, January 17th at 11:00 in the First Baptist Church in Hanover. Burial followed in Hanover Center Cemetery. Calling hours in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND were on Wednesday,January 16th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hanover, 580 Webster St. Hanover MA. 02339 or to the American Cancer Society, 115 W. Chestnut St. Brockton, MA.02401.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can remember being in BlueBirds and making seed covered vases at your house when I was in first grade. What a great time we had with that group. You have given me such good memories.

I will miss Rena very much. A very caring and kind lady, she always made sure to invite me to her annual Christmas Eve party. She touched a lot of peoples lives, even if only in small ways. A good example for us all to follow, and I am sad she has left us too soon. God Bless.
