Obituary For Raymond G. Pike

ROCKLAND – Raymond G. Pike formerly of Brockton, 91, died on Friday January 21st in South Shore Hospital, Weymouth.

He was the husband of the late Anna R. (Silva) Pike and the late Judith A. (Proule) Pike. Born in 1930 in Holbrook, MA, son of the late G. Madeline (Michaud) Pike of Redington Shores, FL and Frederick E. Pike, Sr. a Brockton letter carrier for many years.

He was educated in Brockton schools and in his earlier years worked as a heavy equipment operator. For the majority of his career, he worked as a union glazier in Local #1044, Boston, until his retirement in 1990. During those years he was a gifted home renovator and his own auto mechanic. He was a member of the Rockland Eagles, a volunteer driver for The American Cancer Society and enjoyed visiting and helping the elderly and disabled. He was a daily communicant of Holy Family Church, where he was a lector and a volunteer sexton for more than 25 years. He was best described as a “prayer warrior” and a daily fixture in the church.

Surviving him are two daughters: Margaret Pike of Asheville, NC and Christine Smith and her husband Paul Smith of Avon, five grandchildren: Jennifer Schulz, Melissa Hermes, Laurel MacCurtain, Melanie Brace, and Gregory Brace, twelve great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, a sister, B. June Creighton and her husband Ben Creighton of Webster, NH and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by one daughter, Geraldine Pike of Louisa, VA and two brothers, Frederick E. Pike, Jr. of Centerville and Clement (Clem) Pike of Brockton.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 1st, 4-7 PM at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland, MA 02370. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Rockland, at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, February 2nd. Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Bridgewater pinehill-cemetery.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Holy Family Church, 403 Union St., Rockland, MA 02370.
