Obituary For Phyllis E. Hoyt

Phyllis Hoyt passed away at home on December 26 surrounded by her loving family after a period of failing health. Phyllis had done bookkeeping at a Boston insurance company after graduating from Quincy High School. When her children started school she wanted to be home with them. She took a job with the school lunch program. She advanced up the ranks rapidly and was soon doing supervision and management tasks. After several years she was appointed Manager of the High School Cafeteria from which she retired 12 years later.

Phyllis was a member of the First Congregational Church in Weymouth for 50 years where she taught Sunday School and was president of the Mothers Club and served as a Deaconess. She later moved to Carver and joined the United Parish Church. Phyllis's greatest love was feeding people, from helping her mother at home to feeding her growing family and having dinner parties for family and friends and finally feeding the school children for 20 years.

She and her husband wintered in Fort Myers Florida for many years where she became a talented artist. She loved to play Bocce and Bridge wherever she was.

She is survived by her husband James C. Hoyt and her children James R. Hoyt and his wife Kathleen of Hanover, Rosalyn D. Spallino and her husband Robert of Abington, Regina L. Carvell and her husband David of Abington, Robin E. Hoyt of Weymouth and Virginia O'Leary and her husband Timothy of Weymouth. She was the sister of Jean Lally of Peabody, Virginia Norris of NC, Rosalyn Hartford of Falmouth and the late Marjorie Nugent, Barbara Hunter and Eben Robinson, Jr. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, a great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM on Saturday January 3, 2014 in the United Parish of Carver.
