Obituary For Paul G. McSweeney

Paul G. McSweeney, 69 of Rockland died on February 5, 2009 in the Coyne Healthcare Center in Rockland after a period of failing health. He was born in Boston, son of the late Joseph and Alice (Manning) McSweeney and was raised and educated in S. Boston. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Paul has made his home in Rockland for the past 40 years and in 2001 he retired after a 45 year career as a cable splicer with New England Telephone and Telegraph Co., later known as Verizon. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America., the Castle Island Association and was very proud of his Irish heritage. Husband of the late Kathleen (Canavan) Mcsweeney, he is survived by his daughter Nancy M. Anderson and her husband Robert of Rockland, his grandsons, Paul and Matthew Anderson of Rockland and his siblings, Leo McSweeney of Holbrook, James McSweeney of Woburn and Alice Bean and Jean Nee both of S. Boston. He was also the brother of the late Barbara Mahoney and Joseph McSweeney Calling hours will be held in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Sunday February 8, 2009 from 6-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 403 Union St. Rockland on Monday February 9, 2009 at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Donations in his name may be made to the Rockland Education Foundation, P.O. Box 764 Rockland, MA 02370
