Obituary For Paul D. Shertick

Paul D. Shertick, 51 died at the Norwood Hospital after being stricken very suddenly at his Walpole home on Tuesday morning December 23, 2008. He was born in Boston, son of the late Joseph and Valerie (Petrulis) Shertick and was raised and educated in South Boston. Paul was a graduate of S. Boston High School and attended Bunker Hill Community College. He has made his home in Walpole for the past 17 years. Mr. Shertick was employed at the John G. Shelley Co. in Wellesley as an inside sales representative at the time of his death. He had previously been employed at the New England Door Co. in Canton and had worked at Warren Electric and Hardware Co. in Boston's South End, Yumont's Hardware in Jamaica Plain and had managed several other Tru-Value locations in and around the city. Paul also was employed at Gillette Stadium in their Event Security department since the venue's opening. Active as a volunteer in the Town of Walpole, he served on the Town Forest Committee, most recently as treasurer, the Walpole Softball Association serving as a board member, coach and equipment manager. He also was a member of the Post Prom Committee at Walpole High School. Paul was an avid fisherman and was a frequent blood donor. He is survived by his wife Mary Beth (Houghton) Shertick, his daughters Rose E. Shertick and Hannah M. Shertick both of Walpole. He was the brother of Joseph Shertick of CT, Jane Harnadek of Ontario, Robert Shertick of S. Boston and Rita Shertick of CA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends were kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that was celebrated in the Blessed Sacrament Church, East Street (Rt 27) at Diamond St. Walpole on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours were Monday, December 29, 2008 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Memorial donations may be made to: Arthritis Foundation-Mass.     Paul will be sorely missed. What a wonderful man he is. I'll remember him from our time in Walpole on the Trails Committee. Hopefully we can plan something in his honor in 2009.

    Mr. Sherick was a great coach!. He coached my team for 3 years. He always made us proud of what we had accomplished. He smiled and encouraged us. He will be missed my everyone. <3

    Mary Beth & girls I can't begin to imagine your loss. I always remember Paul as being a wonderfully upbeat person. I lost my dad when I was a teenager also so I know how you girls must feel.     Paul was a warm and funny guy, who loved his family. We worked with him at TeamOps, and were always happy to see him-he always brought a smile with him. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
