Obituary For Patrick L. McAvoy

Patrick Lawrence McAvoy, of Tularosa, New Mexico, passed away at home on October 3, 2025 at the age of 71.

Born and raised in Holbrook, MA. Pat was the son of John B. and Marie (Cox) McAvoy.
Pat is survived by his sister Kathleen and her husband Richard Ross of Whitman, MA and
brother John R. McAvoy also of Whitman, MA. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Glenn R. McAvoy of Lakeville, MA.

He graduated from Holbrook High School in 1972 where he made many life long friends. He received his Associate of Applied Science degree in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning from Blue Hills Technical Institute in 1980. Pat went on to work in the engineering field as a cad designer for multiple major firms in the Boston area and across the country.

Among Pat's many interests were sports, photography and astronomy.He loved all of the Boston teams, especially the Patriots.He rarely missed a game and was a season ticket holder for many seasons.

In Colorado and New Mexico Pat mixed his love of photography and sports by photographing
the local youth teams and various local events, from The World Championship Pack Burro Race
in Fairplay, CO. to the Tularosa, NM Duck Race, an event used to raise funds to support families in need. Additionally he loved astrophotography and he would share the many images he took of the moon, stars,
planets, and galaxies.

As we bid farewell to Pat, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love.
His gentle spirit and friendly smile will be greatly missed, but his influence will continue
to live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him.

Friends and loved ones are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period in the
Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home at 135 Union St, Rockland MA on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 5:00-8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Family Church at 403 Union St, Rockland MA on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 9:00 AM.

    Pat was a very good friend of mine as far back as I can remember. We ran track together in High School. We both worked in Boston for different companies and were MBTA train buddies for many years. I spoke with Pat once or twice a month by phone. I am going to miss our phone conversations. RIP Pat.

    Patrick was a classmate and friend from our time at Hilltop Kindergarten. He was a sweet soul and always a gentleman. Rest easy Pat...one of the good guys.
