Obituary For Patrick John Burke

Patrick John (PJ) Burke of Hingham, MA (proudly raised in Rockland, MA), passed away on October 18, 2025, at the age of 54 at his home surrounded by his family. PJ shared 28 years of marriage with his college sweetheart, Maria Burke (Archibald) formally of Everett, MA. Loving father of Meaghan Lorraine, Colin Patrick, Tucker Scott, and Luke John Burke of Hingham, MA. Son of James Burke and Patricia (Fagan) of Stuart, FL. Brother of Christopher Burke of Rockland, MA and Scott Burke and his wife, Leah, of Concord, MA. Brother-in-law to John Archibald and his wife, Desiree Zicko, of Reading, MA. Cousin-in-law to Rhonda Gurley of Everett, MA and Dean Gurley and his fiance, Dani DeCristoforo, of Atlanta, TX. Uncle to many nieces, nephews and great nephews. Survived by many close family friends.

He graduated from Rockland High School in 1990 where he made lifelong friends. He received his Bachelor's in Educationfrom Fitchburg State University in 1994 and his Master’s in Special Education from Endicott College in 2014. PJ dedicated his career to teaching and coaching youth for over 24 years. He was heavily involved in the Rockland Youth Commission for many years. Once he retired from teaching, he started his own home improvement business that was very successful.

PJ’s happiest time was when he was surrounded by his children. He was so proud of them and was always there to cheer them on at their sports games, plays and school events. He was a proud Irishman and was almost never seen without his scally cap. His friends were his family and he loved being with them. PJ was known for his great sense of humor, his infectious laugh, and big personality. PJ definitely ran on Dunkin and was an avid sports fan. He loved all Boston sports teams and could be heard many streets away cheering on his Patriots!

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visitation hours on Monday, October 27 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland, MA.     I was saddened to hear about the passing of PJ. I'll always remember him from our childhood days-his presence, his laughter, and the memories we all shared during that time.
